Perfect Pony Club Pony FOR SALE
Please note, allowing members and others to post adverts for members is a service which Southdown East branch of the Pony Club is offering to members as a benefit of membership. It is done in good faith and without any liability on the part of the Pony Club. If you enter into any arrangement advertised or purchase any item following an advertisement listed by the branch, you do so as a private individual, without recourse to the Pony Club, and must satisfy yourself that any product or arrangement is suitable for your circumstances.
Ricky has been a wonderful pony for my daughter who is now onto the next thing. We have had him for 2 years and 10 months and he has turned my now 13 year old into a confident and capable rider and she is now ready to move on. Despite his age Ricky is a strong and forward pony so would not be suitable for a complete novice, he loves doing what he does best (cross country) and he is super willing to do anything, all things PC, ODE's and hunter trials, show jumping etc.
Has attended multiple pony club camps and rallies, has represented his branch in showjumping team winning 1st place. Ricky is such a sweet genuine pony who is ready to teach his next little rider a lot. He jumps around 70 cm in shows at 80cm at home.
Ricky is easy to handle, clip, shoe, load ,catch and travel. Turns out with mares or geldings, he is fine hacking alone or in company. No vices at all.
Up to date with vaccinations, worming and teeth.
We are genuinely so sad to see him go and we would love him to go to a pony club family.
Genuine enquiries only please as this is a very sad sale.
If interested please do call to discuss further.

NEW - wearing of spurs now requiring training and passing a test
From 1st January 2025 if you want to wear spurs in any Pony Club activity i.e. rallies/competitions, and do not hold your C+ test or above, you will need to take a spurs test. This test has been introduced to help protect the welfare of our horses and ponies.
We have been informed that other equestrian organisations such as Riding Clubs, NSEA, etc, are likely to be following along the same route.
These tests have to be assessed by an external B test examiner. Tests are being organised within Area 11 at different venues. If you are successful you will be awarded a new hat tag that is yellow. If you are unsuccessful the examiner will give you tips and guidance on improving a secure lower leg and seat and then retake at a later date.
The test has both theory and practical elements. If we have enough of our own members to take up this test we will organise an external assessor. Should there not be enough we will organise alongside another branch in the area.
To help prepare for the spurs test we have organised a session to train for the theory side. This will take place on Friday 8th November at Drapers Farm, South Chailey, starting at 5.00pm and there will be no charge. Please could you let Candy know asap if you would like to attend. We encourage parents of the attending member to come too and get a better understanding of what is involved and the standards to be met. If you currently don't wear spurs but think you may need to in the near future, please do come to this session and start the training.
If a rider is ever seen using spurs inappropriately the spurs test can be removed and the rider will have to retake it.

Camp 2025
Planning ahead for 2025!
We are in the process of organising camp for 2025 and would very much like to continue our tradition of over 70 years by holding camp at Plumpton Racecourse.
Our 3 day "day" camp at Bucklands Farm went really well but I think we all missed the traditional senior camp atmosphere and the whole spending a week with your pony (and away from parents!) as well as evening activities, camp food and just being with friends who all have the love of horses in common with one another.
Cost we hope would be in the region of £425 for senior residential camp which has been the cost for 3 years now and includes all food for children, hay and bedding for horses. We hope to spend a day at Bucklands Farm to enjoy the cross country course.
Date would be Sunday 27th July through to Friday 1st August (we may run Monday 28th July through to Saturday 2nd August.
Day camp would run either Monday 28th July - Friday 1st August or Tuesday 29th July - Saturday 2nd August and cost in the region of £230
In order to continue with plans we need an idea of numbers to make sure there is enough interest to go ahead. Please could you let me know either way if you would like to come to camp by emailing candyrobbins06@gmail.com by Sunday 6th October so a decision can be made. If you have any questions please also e-mail me.
