Dear Members and Friends
As you know the branch regularly sends e-mail out to it's members to keep everyone up to date with rallies, events, items for sale and so forth. On or about 25th March it became apparent our mail was being rejected by yahoo.co.uk and gmail.com domains due to a validation failure. Validation exists in an attempt to make sure mail is being received from the address is says it's coming from. Pretending to send mail from an address is common in phishing so the validation is helpful. I'm not 100% sure why this issue arose; something changed in the infinite Ether and it wasn't my doing!
The upshot is Pony Club mail will now be sent from the address sdhepc@thefourfootway.org . The fourfootway.org is a domain owned by me (Mike Nichols, Branch Treasurer) and so I can set up the required validation key (DKIM for the technically minded). In order to avoid our mail being processed as 'junk' it's recommended you add sdhepc@thefourfootway.org to your address book. This can replace the previous address sdhepc@btinternet.com which will no longer be used. As I have commented on before sending mail to a long list of recipients is actually quite a difficult thing to do.
Don't forget all our outgoing mail is copied to http://sdhepc.blogspot.co.uk so you can always check to make sure you have seen everything.
Some recent e-mails have been sent twice to make sure they are received by those domains that were rejecting them. To those who got them twice my apologies; I'm sure the delete button will fix it!!
I hope you all enjoy the Easter holidays.
Kind regards
Mike

Hi,
I am a volunteer for Southdown Hunt East Pony Club and we are very lucky to have our own Cross Country Course at Wivelsden Farm in North Chailey.
We run a number of events throughout the summer months and this year we are planning a new layout, which includes some very exciting new jumps. We are inviting sponsorship of these new jumps, which is a wonderful way of advertising your company or just your family name on there to show your support.
In exchange for sponsorship we will provide a plaque advertising your company on each jump sponsored, and our commentary team will give information of each sponsor as the competitors go around the course. We would also advertise your business on our Facebook page and in our show schedule booklets. We can also put up banners or other items for you on the day of our events.
The cost of sponsorship would be:
Single jump - £50 per jump
Combination jump - £100 per jump.
We are planning a launch of the new course, which will be covered by a local paper, before we open again in May.
If you are interested in supporting a local pony club or have any queries regarding the above, please contact me on
gemma_547@hotmail.com or 07901876199
Many Thanks
Gemma Johnson

Hi Everyone I have arranged two C and C+ Rallies for the Easter Holidays. If you are one of the girls who would like to take your C Test in the May Half term it would be really good if you could attend. If there is anyone else who would like to be considered for the test in May please ring me next week. Claire 0772 988 0293 The Rallies will be 2 hours. 1 Hour riding and then 1 Hour Stable Managerment. Time 9.30 to 11.45 - Thurs 5th April at Oakfields, Crawley Down Time 10.30 to 12.45 - Thurs 12th April at Oakfields, Crawley Down Both times are £15 I have only booked the 1 Slot each time and can have up to 6 members ( 7 at a push ) this is because there doesn't seem to be enough members wanting to take any tests at the moment. If I suddenly get loads of forms in the post over the next few days I will of course add an extra ride. Please send me rally forms and chqs asap. This notice is just to help parents with planning work/holidays.

Dear All I am sending this email as I believe there are a few members who would like to attend senior camp but do not want to stay overnight. However, the Committee has agreed that Senior Camp must remain residential. If we allow members to go home at night this could cause unrest with members that are staying as homesickness is a perennial problem. Having day campers also makes security a complex issue. However, we do want to try our best to accommodate the members who do not want to stay overnight at senior camp so we are happy to arrange for a 'senior ride' at Junior Camp with extra age appropriate activities, for example going to Wivelsden to use the cross country course. I do hope you will find this an acceptable compromise. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me by email c.cook578@btinternet.com or telephone 07795547712. We are still joining OS&B Pony Club for there shoot training. Swim training at Cumnor House School is now run by Area11.
Thursdays
There are weekly shooting practices at Taylor's Gun Club in East Court, every Thursday from 5.30pm until 7.30pm. Guns, pellets and targets are provided. Complete beginners are welcome as full training is given but please ring Margaret Allday (margaretallday41@gmail.com) first. Children must be 8 yrs old or over. There is a pool table too!
Fridays
There are weekly swimming practices on Friday evenings 6:15-7:15pm. They are run by Emily Miles (Bright) who is a past OS&B member, a medal winner at Junior & Senior World Championship level in Modern Pentathlon, and one of four National Pony Club Tetrathlon Mentors.
This swimming is now under the Area 11 umbrella, so open to any S.D.H.E. members that may wish to attend. If anyone wants to come Margaret, from OS&B, would be grateful if they could let her know as she needs to know names in advance in case there is a problem and she needs to contact them and save them a journey. Please book in with Margaret Allday (margaretallday41@gmail.com) first. Cost £9 for an hour's lesson.
There are 6 places left at the Level 3 and 4 jumping rally at Chelwood Equestrian on Saturday 17th March (jumping 2'6 and above)
