Please remember to bring the passport for your horse with the vaccination record as this will need to be checked by me before unloading. Horses must have had a full course of injections completed within the last 6 months and there must be a clear 7 days from last injection to the date of the rally. The venue will not allow any horse to enter that does not comply with this rule, so thankyou for your co-operation.
Please could you all make sure you are tacked up promptly and ready to start at your allocated time. Any help with setting up of jumps and putting away afterwards would be very much appreciated, and please could you remove any droppings and hay from around your lorry before leaving – no horses to be left unattended tied to lorries/trailers.
Please wear correct pony club clothing i.e. beige jodphurs, white shirt, pc tie, pc sweatshirt, gloves and hairnets for the girls. Ponies to be clean and wearing clean plain tack.
Hope you all have a great time
Many thanks

We are running 2 riding and road safety rallies during the May half term holiday.
Road Rider Mini achievement badge which is for members working towards E D and D+ tests.
A Road Rider Badge aimed at those members working towards the C Test. This is a compulsory badge which has to be achieved before the C Test certificate can be awarded, so if you're aiming to take the C Test this year, do come along to this rally also.
These rallies are now both open for booking on the web site.
We are also planning another date outside of the half term break so if you can't make this one, keep your eyes open for more news.
Please contact Sally Harper for more information.
Please note, allowing members and others to post adverts for members is a service which Southdown East branch of the Pony Club is offering to members as a benefit of membership. It is done in good faith and without any liability on the part of the Pony Club. If you enter into any arrangement advertised or purchase any item following an advertisement listed by the branch, you do so as a private individual, without recourse to the Pony Club, and must satisfy yourself that any product or arrangement is suitable for your circumstances.
We have owned the trailer for approx. 3.5 yrs and have had it serviced regularly. We replaced the towing mechanism for a brand new one just 18 months ago. It is in good working order, has a hook up mirror, sound aluminium floors, rubber matting and ramps.
We are selling as we have recently changed over to a horsebox. It is to be sold as seen for £1,950 ONO. It is kept in Upper Dicker nr. Hailsham.
If you are interested, please call Kathryn on 07779 663 990

Hello folks.
I'm following up on my previous request for help.
We've only a week to go and still need help.
We need fence judges, collecting ring and car park help on the day. This is a great opportunity to bring along younger members, who may be thinking about taking part in the September event, to watch and see what's involved.
Thursday evening, help to set up/rope and flag the course
Saturday afternoon, last minute help and putting up our marquee.
ALL help, in whatever form is gratefully received. We run these events as fund raisers for the Branch to keep the costs of rallies and camps down but we can't run them without a lot of help from volunteers.
Please contact Sally on branchshow@sdhepc.org or 07753777072
Thanks so much
Sally

Hello Everyone
It's only three weeks before we have our first Branch event of the year, our Spring Hunter Trials is being held on Sunday 19th May. Planning is well under way and entries are coming in already.
As always, we need help from parents and members in order to run our events properly, and many hands really do make light work.
Your help can come in many ways:
Help us to set up beforehand, putting out safety ropes and poles, flagging the course, and putting up our new marquee to protect us from the rain (or hopefully sun) on the day.
Come along and fence judge for us on the day. This can be a whole day, or a morning\afternoon session. This is a really important, but simple to learn, job. We really cannot run our event without the people who sit by each jump ensuring that every rider gets over safely. You have to be over 16 to do this by yourself, but bring your youngsters with you and let them see what the day is all about. They can help you in your job, and you just tick the boxes. It's fun and we'll make sure you're fed and watered while you help.
Help on the day, we need someone to come round and take refreshments to our helpers. Bake a cake or something savoury to keep the helpers sustained during the day.
Stay behind for a little while or come back later to help put all the ropes/posts/tent etc away.
It's a long day and every offer of help really is very much appreciated.
If you'd like to help, please contact Sally Harper who is our volunteers coordinator.

Inter Branch Eventing Teams
Please find attached schedule for our Hunter Trial taking place on Sunday 19th May at Wivelsen Farm.
Candy Robbins
Southdown Hunt East Secretary
This year the Pony Club is celebrating its' 90th Anniversary. A 'Round The World' event has been created to take place at noon on Saturday 3rd August and will be the key moment of the celebrations. The Pony Club hope to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest gathering of young people and it is in all our interests to raise the profile of our organisation showing our membership that they are part of an organisation with global connections, all sharing the same passion for horses, having fun and creating friendship opportunities that continue long after we cease being a pony club member.
Head Quarters would like all Branches to upload photographs/videos as near to noon as possible on 3rd August showing their own celebrations.
Saturday 3rd August coincides with the last day of senior camp and the interbranch jumping event being hosted by Southdown Hunt West at Hickstead. SDHW are proposing to create a giant "90" with 10/20 unmounted members from each branch within Area 11 in the main arena.
We would like to create our own "90" and would like to invite all present and ex members to join us at Plumpton Racecourse on the evening of Thursday 1st August. More details will follow shortly, but we propose to meet around 6.00 after evening stables and would like everyone to bring a picnic and join the campers and camp staff for the evening to celebrate. The plan is to have this filmed by drone, along with the 'horse shoe' on the final day of camp and have it uploaded to HQ as our part of the celebrations.
Please try and keep the evening of 1st August free and help Southdown Hunt East with their celebrations – it will also be a great time to catch up with fellow present and past members.
We are in the process of taking bookings for our camps, all of which are being held at Plumpton Racecourse.
Senior Camp - Saturday 29th July – Saturday 3rd August £425 - deposit of £100
Junior Camp - Monday 5th – Friday 9th August £200 - deposit of £50
Mini camp - Tuesday 6th – Friday 9th August £160 – deposit of £50
Senior camp is fully residential, where horses are stabled within the secure yard at the racecourse and campers sleep in dormitories within the grandstand which is patrolled by security staff overnight.
Junior and mini campers come daily, with the ponies being stabled in the racecourse yard. This year there will be an open morning when parents are invited to stay and watch their children ride.
First, and foremost, camp is about having fun, improving your riding and creating new friendships.
All riding, yard and activities earn points for the campers and their yard groups and go towards many awards that are presented on the last day of camp following a demonstration to parents of their riding skills.
Instruction includes jumping, flatwork, stable management, working hunter and grid work sessions.
Campers and their ponies are taken to our cross country course at Wivelsden Farm.
However it is not all about riding and stable duties. We have various demonstrations, where in previous years we have had visits from the British Racing School, packs of foxhounds, pilates classes and for senior campers a visiting vet has dissected various parts of horses! There are games afternoons and during hot weather a very popular water slide!
During the evenings at senior camp there are games such as it's a knockout, landrover pull and a disco with karaoke on the last night.
If you are interested in any of the above camps or would like to discuss which camp is best for your child please contact Candy Robbins, camp secretary, on 0781 658 0322 or candyrobbins@w-com.net
With our first event of the year looming up on Sunday 19th May, we are in the process of getting the course prepared.
The fences always look fantastic when "dressed". If you have any ideas and are feeling creative, please join us on Wednesday 8th May, 7.00pm, at Wivelsden Farm. The idea would be for you to choose a fence, put forward for approval what you would like to do to it and with what, and then come along on the evening of 16th May to carry out the dressing.
Hope to see lots of you there.
Candy Robbins
