small novice jumping at Golden Cross 4th October 2015

Eridge Pony Club are running a team and individual show jumping event at Golden Cross on Sunday 4^th October. If you are interested in being considered for the small novice team please could you let me know by 11^th September so teams can be selected etc.

 

Fences approx. 75/80cm – single phase. Course is in 2 parts with the second part timed. Competitors may jump the whole course unless eliminated.   £12.00 individual or £48.00 per team of 4

 

Sadly there are no novice or intermediate classes at this event!

 

There is a two fence challenge following the small novice class. Fences will start at 65cm, and you need to jump both fences clear to proceed to the next round – entries for this are on the day

 

Emily Pincus will be e-mailing out for the mini people – lots for you to do, with classes starting at 40cm!

Dear All,

I have just been made aware that Old Surrey & Burstow PC are holding a Team and Individual Showjumping competition at Felbridge Showground on Sat 12th Sept.

The classes suitable for Minis & Mini Minis are

Class 1 70cms Team & Individual. Riders 12yrs and under (on day of show)

This class is run in Ring 1 - Bill Kear arena, starting at 9am

Class 5 60cms Team & Individual. Riders 12yrs and under (on day of show)
Class 6 Xpoles Team & Individual. Riders 10yrs and under (on day of show) Lead Rein Only 
Class 7 50cms Team & Individual. Riders 10yrs and under (on day of show)

These classes run in Ring 2 - All Weather Rubber Arena. Prior to classes 5-7 there is a Clear Round set at the height of following class, starting at 8.30am.

Entry Fee £12 per class + £2 first aid / £48 per team of 4 + £2 first aid per rider 

If you are interested in entering, pls email me direct the details of Rider, Pony & which class you would like to enter ASAP and I can then determine whether we are able to send a SDHE Mini team or two! 

If there aren't enough members for a team, you can still represent our branch as an individual!

I have just received the last TET schedule of the year (as far as I am aware) although some branches run TRI competitions during the winter.

 

Please find attached the schedule for the SDHW Tetrathlon taking place at Hickstead showground and Hurstpierpoint College (swim phase) on Saturday 26 September.

 

Spaces are limited so, if necessary, they will ballot. This was a new event last year and was very popular so I would like to get the SDHEast entry in asap.

 

The organisers of this event hope to maintain the 'friendly competition' (or should that be 'competitive friendly'?) format that they enjoyed at the inaugural competition last year.

Lots of help needed please for Mini ODE 27th September 2015

The Mini One Day Event is taking place at Wivelsden on Sunday 27^th September.  This is the last of our events this year that we run to raise funds to subsidise rally costs, and to buy and maintain essential equipment that all our members enjoy over the year. The running of an ODE involves a lot of work and we are therefore needing lots of help to enable this event to be run, and for it to  run smoothly .

On the Saturday we need:              A team to build the show jumping course

No experience is necessary as a full briefing will be done on the day, but you do need to be 18 or over.  You will be fed and watered, so come and sit in your deck chair for a few hours and enjoy the thrills and hopefully not too many spills, of the cross country.

Junior campers!

Please could all those that attended Junior Camp at Town Place, either as a camper or helper, please double check they have the correct hat.

The "mislaid" hat is a new Charles Owen size 56 with a white hat tag - however left behind was a Champion size 1.5 with a purple hat tag at the rear.  Both hats had black silks and could easily have been picked up by mistake.

Please could you all recheck your childs hats so the above hats can be reunited with their rightful owners, especially as the owner of the Charles Owen hat does not have a hat to ride in!

Hacks alone or in company going first or last. Excellent in the heaviest traffic, good to shoe, box (trailer or lorry), catch (comes when called) .
Safe in open fields and will happily canter alongside others. Jumps fillers and basically everything.
Very easy at shows.

Happy for her to move yards but would like her to stay in East Sussex so I can come visit. Comes with all tack,rugs, etc

Cakes for mini camp

Urgently needed for Mini Camp - cakes!!!   

With 27 mini campers and 35 helpers we are really short of cakes with which to feed the children at their afternoon break.  Please, are there any Mums (or Dads) who could produce cakes, flapjacks, cookies etc. and keep our children happy?

Any contributions will be most welcome and thanking you in anticipation of a mini camp "bake off" - in the lead at the moment from Junior camp, is Nicky Collins with her blackberry crumble cake!  It was scrumptious!!

Area Dressage Report from Xanthe Fairhead

On the 5^th of July two teams of brilliant Southdown Hunt East members competed at the area dressage competition.  We took two teams - Alice Reffin, Chloe Fry and Sophie Duffield made up the Gold team; Xanthe Fairhead, Francesca Fairhead, Eleanor Reffin and Livvy Logan made up the Navy team. Everyone was amazing and really supportive of each other and because of this we had some great results.  Sophie finished 5^th, Chloe also did very well coming 6^th and Alice 8^th.   As a combined effort, the whole team finished a very creditable 5^th out of 26 teams.   Well done!!   Although the Navy team didn't get placed everyone did brilliantly; Cesca was on a new horse and it was his 3^rd ever test, Livvy did really well on a borrowed pony, Eleanor came an excellent 3^rd, and I was amazed to discover that Louis and I had won our arena and qualified for the championships as an individual though unfortunately I won't be able to make the finals.   There was a really good team atmosphere and all the mums made a combined effort to create the best picnic ever.   We were very lucky to have Polly Thom (with baby Florence) and Anne Cook there to support us.   Thank you everyone for a lovely day and can't wait to see you at camp.
