Tetrathlon
I have just received the last TET schedule of the year (as far as I am aware) although some branches run TRI competitions during the winter.
Please find attached the schedule for the SDHW Tetrathlon taking place at Hickstead showground and Hurstpierpoint College (swim phase) on Saturday 26 September.
Spaces are limited so, if necessary, they will ballot. This was a new event last year and was very popular so I would like to get the SDHEast entry in asap.
The organisers of this event hope to maintain the 'friendly competition' (or should that be 'competitive friendly'?) format that they enjoyed at the inaugural competition last year.
Please get all entry details & cheques to me asap. Five Acres, Theobalds Road, Burgess Hill, W Sx, RH15 0SX.
Thanks, Nicky

My nine year old daughter is looking for her next pony. Either for sale or to loan. She would like a pony club (seen it all and done it all) pony approx. 12-12.3hh.
She loves XC and jumping and is keen to find a friendly and easy to do pony. We are looking for a willing pony that is reasonably calm out. Any pony she has will be very well looked after and loved! Thank you.

The Mini One Day Event is taking place at Wivelsden on Sunday 27th September. This is the last of our events this year that we run to raise funds to subsidise rally costs, and to buy and maintain essential equipment that all our members enjoy over the year. The running of an ODE involves a lot of work and we are therefore needing lots of help to enable this event to be run, and for it to run smoothly .
On the Saturday we need: A team to build the show jumping course
Dressage arena's to be set out
On the day: Arena party for showjumping AM and PM
Show jumping steward AM and PM
SJ tack checker AM and PM
SJ commentator AM and PM
Dressage writers AM x 3 PM x 3
Dressage tack checker AM and PM
Dressage runners AM and PM
XC refreshment runner AM and PM
Help with parking on the day is needed with shifts: 7.45 – 10.00 10.00 – 12.30 and 12.30 – 3.00
At the end of the day: Many hands make light work! We need help with dismantling the
Show jumps and loading on to trailers to go back to Captains Farm
Ropes to be taken down
Course to be de-flagged
Litter collected.
Fence judges – we need in the region of 15 fence judges for the morning and 18 for the afternoon
No experience is necessary as a full briefing will be done on the day, but you do need to be 18 or over. You will be fed and watered, so come and sit in your deck chair for a few hours and enjoy the thrills and hopefully not too many spills, of the cross country.
If you can help with any part of the fence judging please contact Claire Fry at: clairemfry@hotmail.co.uk
Claire will reply once she has got some names together with approx. times etc.
Cakes! If anyone is willing to doing some baking, our fence judges and team of helpers would much appreciate cakes, cookies, flapjacks etc.,
Thanking you all in anticipation of lots of help!

Please could all those that attended Junior Camp at Town Place, either as a camper or helper, please double check they have the correct hat.
The "mislaid" hat is a new Charles Owen size 56 with a white hat tag - however left behind was a Champion size 1.5 with a purple hat tag at the rear. Both hats had black silks and could easily have been picked up by mistake.
Please could you all recheck your childs hats so the above hats can be reunited with their rightful owners, especially as the owner of the Charles Owen hat does not have a hat to ride in!
Many thanks

*** FOR FULL LOAN
Name: Tango
Colour: chestnut roan
Gender: mare
Height: 13.2hh
Age: 21
Breed: welsh X
Tango is a super pony who is looking for a new loan home, Very kind and safe, not spooky but she can be strong so needs a confident rider. She has given me loads of fun and confidence in all disciplines- showjumping, cross country, dressage and hunting!! But now I have sadly outgrown her and need to move onto horses.
Hacks alone or in company going first or last. Excellent in the heaviest traffic, good to shoe, box (trailer or lorry), catch (comes when called) .
Safe in open fields and will happily canter alongside others. Jumps fillers and basically everything.
Very easy at shows.
Happy for her to move yards but would like her to stay in East Sussex so I can come visit. Comes with all tack, rugs, etc

Urgently needed for Mini Camp - cakes!!!
With 27 mini campers and 35 helpers we are really short of cakes with which to feed the children at their afternoon break. Please, are there any Mums (or Dads) who could produce cakes, flapjacks, cookies etc. and keep our children happy?
Any contributions will be most welcome and thanking you in anticipation of a mini camp "bake off" - in the lead at the moment from Junior camp, is Nicky Collins with her blackberry crumble cake! It was scrumptious!!
Many thanks
Candy Robbins
Our thanks to Xanthe for sending in a report and some pictures. We're always please to receive news from members - more please!! Congratulations to our members too.
Mike
On the 5th of July two teams of brilliant Southdown Hunt East members competed at the area dressage competition. We took two teams - Alice Reffin, Chloe Fry and Sophie Duffield made up the Gold team; Xanthe Fairhead, Francesca Fairhead, Eleanor Reffin and Livvy Logan made up the Navy team. Everyone was amazing and really supportive of each other and because of this we had some great results. Sophie finished 5th, Chloe also did very well coming 6th and Alice 8th. As a combined effort, the whole team finished a very creditable 5th out of 26 teams. Well done!! Although the Navy team didn't get placed everyone did brilliantly; Cesca was on a new horse and it was his 3rd ever test, Livvy did really well on a borrowed pony, Eleanor came an excellent 3rd, and I was amazed to discover that Louis and I had won our arena and qualified for the championships as an individual though unfortunately I won't be able to make the finals. There was a really good team atmosphere and all the mums made a combined effort to create the best picnic ever. We were very lucky to have Polly Thom (with baby Florence) and Anne Cook there to support us. Thank you everyone for a lovely day and can't wait to see you at camp.
