Thank you so much to the people have offered to help tomorrow but I am afraid yet again I'm sending an email out the day before an event asking for help.
I still need URGENTLY the following .
Class 1 and 2 - 2 fence judges
Class 3 - 7 fence judges
Class 4 - 3 fence judges
Class 5 - 9 fence judges
Without people coming forward by this afternoon and stricter Health and Safety Rules I will have to cancel the XC phase and run the event as an combined training and that would be such a shame.
Thank you
Claire
Just email me or ring and i,ll add the names to the spreadsheet

WINTER RALLIES. Plumpton College are tightening up on horses/ponies coming onto their premises. Could all those who attend these rallies make sure they have up to date vaccinations for their horses/ponies. There will be spot checks and anyone who has not got their vaccinations up to date will not be allowed on college premises to attend the rallies. I think most of you who attended camps will have had your flu jabs checked but please be vigilant that these do not go out of date during the winter months. It is so easy to overlook this. Please make sure your vaccination certificate travels with your horse/pony. This is a legal requirement anyway not just college or pony club requirements !!!! Thanks Jane

Dear Mike
Please can you circulate to our members
Most of you or your children who attend senior pony club camp will know Emily and Polly Wagenmann. Their father, Bernard, is suffering from a rare form of liver cancer.
My husband and a few of his mates are cycling off road from the west coast of Cumbria to Newcastle on the 26th of September, taking just 3 days all being well.
They are trying to raise as much money as possible for the charity run by Bernard's oncologist. Of every pound they receive, 96 pence goes into research. http://aacancer.org/
Any contribution to this great charity would be gratefully received. http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/co2co
Many thanks

OK - sorry to be BLUNT but without more fence judges we will have to CANCEL Sunday's Hunter Trial because we cannot operate safely without. This will result in a substantial reputational and financial loss to the branch; some costs cannot be avoided. We have NEVER been in this situation before. The weather is good (not like the last one) so please contact Claire Fry [clairemfry@hotmail.co.uk] without delay. We will have to take a decision at noon tomorrow. Thanks. Mike
Hi
Hi Everyone.
The next event is on THIS SUNDAY and the weather is now dry!!!!!
So far we have only two names down and we CAN NOT run a hunter trial without fence judges! NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE is required and we will tell you what to do. Judges must be 18 years or over but younger people are welcome to help.
The helpers sheet is online http://tinyurl.com/l4fk275 or please e-mail me clairemfry@hotmail.co.uk and I'll add your name if you can't manage to do it yourself (not sure if all devices support editing). It's vital you do fill in a contact number.
Thank you
Claire
PS Please can the bakers out there cook some of those wonderful cakes and biscuits to help keep everyone fed.
Thanks

Thank you everyone for your overwhelming support following Lara's accident. As you know I was originally told that Lara would not have any movement in her arms or legs. The situation now is much more positive and, following major neck surgery, she can move her arms and breathe unaided. She cannot as yet move her hands or legs but it is still early days. She is now at a specialist rehabilitation centre in Chicago and has been there for 2 weeks. We have all been out there with her but her siblings and I flew back at the weekend to get them all back to school/uni. I go back to the US on Thursday. Today in a therapy session she learnt how to type on her laptop so she sent me an email. This will be invaluable in helping her to keep in touch with her friends. You might now get some replies to your messages! She can leave the hospital for short periods of time in a wheelchair and is now eating normally. She is very determined and, we believe, she is in a very good rehabilitation institute. It will be a few months before we have a better idea of how much movement she will regain. We are likely to be in Chicago with her until December and then she will be treated as an outpatient and we don't yet know how this will work. Ideally she will return to school at some point during the winter/spring term and will probably take an extra year to complete her A2s.
If any of you are swimmers we are creating a 'Team Lara' to raise money for spinal cord research. The Aspire charity run an event where teams club together to swim the distance of the Channel (but in a swimming pool) over the 12 weeks from 8th September. We are expanding it to try and get enough people to swim across the Atlantic. You can swim any number of lengths in any pool and you just let us know how many and when. We will keep a running total. Even a few lengths swum each week would really help. Instead of everyone getting individual sponsorship we thought we would ask for sponsorship for the total number of lengths swum by the team as a whole. If you might be able to help us, either by swimming or sponsoring us, please let me (liza.curtis@hpcplc.co.uk) know and I can send you more info. I am told we need 127,280 lengths (in a 25m pool) to be swum between September 8th and December 1st to get from Shannon in Ireland to Gander in Newfoundland, Canada. Lara's air ambulance stopped in both of these places to refuel on her way out to Chicago. Hopefully by the end of the challenge Lara might also be able to swim a length.
Thank you for thinking of Lara.
With best wishes
Liza
Hi Mike,
My daughter, Seren, is a new member to pony club and has Teddy (at Wivelsden Farm) on loan for six months. She would like to attend as many rallies as possible but we have no transport for Teddy.
Please ( if it is not too cheeky to ask) could you send an email out to see if anyone could help her with that? She is 14 and jumps 2'6" on Teddy currently. She would be happy to contribute to costs.
Thank you.
Helen

Dear Mike
Do hope you're well.
Jo Tindall from the Eridge who has had Percy for the last two years for her Great Niece has asked me to sell Percy and to offer him exclusively in the first instance back to the Southdown East Pony Club. He came back to me this weekend, is extremely well and showing no sign of his 20 years. Ceski came over to put him through his paces and I can assure you he has lost none of his talent both on the flat and over jumps. I've mentioned his return to John Bedford and to polly Hingston but could you put the following up in your next newsletter or sooner. I feel really grateful to Jo Tindall that she'd like me to offer him in the first instance to Southdown East members!!!
14.2hh, chestnut gelding.
A complete schoolmaster who competed extensively at PC novice level both with Ceski Goddard and then with Alexandra and Annabelle Irwin, all Southdown East members. He has been to the Novice PC Championships in all three disciplines, SJ, Eventing and Dressage include winning the dressage championship. He also loves hunting and hacks alone or in company.
He has spent the last two years with the DC of the Eridge Pony Club giving confidence to a girl who has sadly now outgrown him so he is now back with me to find a new home, hopefully within the Southdown East Pony Club. Percy is a delight to handle in all respects: genuine and well mannered on the ground, 100% to clip, shoe and load.
Ceski Goddard started on Sir Percy at the age of 9, so I am looking for a similarly young rider who would like to do regular PC activities at mini level and then in due course up to small novice and possibly to novice. He may be 19 this year but he has years left in him and has come back to me looking and feeling a million dollars.
The right home and the right rider is essential rather than the price for this hugely loved pony. So, if you are interested please get in touch with me. There is one proviso on the sale – he comes back to me for re-sale or retirement.
For further information, please contact Louise Lewis (Weir) on 07739182301 or email louise@lovereading.co.uk
Mike, I've not put the price because to the right home and the right rider, Jo is happy to let him go for very little but I don't want to say that until I've spoken with potential families. Any queries then do give me a shout.
Louise
