**Area Mounted Games Training Day Wed 13th April - mounted and "on foot" sessions**
?
Dear All,

There is a fun Area Mounted Games training day at Easter for Pony Club members, both mounted or "on foot" for our non-riding members or those currently without a suitable pony. Members on the lead rein are very welcome as are older more experienced members. It is being held at Sands Farm, near Horsham, which is a lovely big INDOOR venue with loads of hardstanding parking and an easy drive - don't be put off by the distance as it really doesn't take too long to get there.

It's being run by Clare Bassett, the DC of East Sussex Pony Club who has huge experience and enthusiasm for mounted games. Please see all the information you need to book in below. Please book in sooner rather than later as places are limited. Any questions, please contact  Clare.

Bookings are now open for fun & games on Wednesday 13th April at Sands Farm. A great opportunity to meet up, join in and learn about mounted games, be it as a total mounted games beginner or a budding competition rider.

  1. A fun "ON FOOT" session for Centre/Branch members members who's ponies/ horses are unavailable. Welcome to stay and watch the ride sessions
  2. Lead rein & assisted riders of all ages - a single coaching session - walk & trot only
  3. Junior 10 yrs and younger on 01.01.22 and any novice senior age members who's riding is better suited for this section for example they may need assistance to mount or are nervous to canter
  4. Senior 11 yrs and older on 01.01.22 and any junior age members who are experienced mounted games riders

Junior & Seniors will have two sessions
  • Session 1 will give coaching and practice time of different races
  • Session 2 will be a friendly "race-off" giving riders an opportunity to try out their skills against pairs/teams of a similar ability

Parents, coordinators and coaches will be encouraged to get involved, find out and share knowledge about the duties of the arena party and line stewards - an essential part of mounted games training and competitions.

Venue: Indoors at Sands Farm, Warnham, Horsham (RH12 3SQ) - we are hoping to extend opportunities beyond our usual winter games competition venue at Bodiam.

Pony wanted for loan or share

This is on behalf of a new member to our Branch:

I am looking for a pony for my 13 year old daughter Lexie to share or loan part time.  She is 150cm (4 foot 11 inches) in height.  We are looking in the Brighton/Lewes direction . We live on the east side of Brighton. We are open to a place to keep a pony which ideally would be with other children who Lexie can ride with. Lexie has about 4 years riding experience where she has had lessons weekly and helped in a livery yard.

Lexie wants to attend the senior camp at Plumpton college 31st July to the 5th August so would need the pony for that full week and she would like to attend  rallies.  Please contact me on my mobile number Maria Hawton-Mead 07973616710.

Best wishes,

Maria Hawton-Mead

Chief Instructor

After nearly 8 years of leading the instruction for Southdown Hunt East, Polly Thom has decided to stand down from her role as Chief Instructor to spend more time with her 3 lovely young daughters and of course her husband Shawn.  Polly will still be very much involved with our branch and continue instructing and serving on our main committee whilst enjoying some free time!

We are delighted that Sonia Chittenden has agreed to become Chief Instructor and we all wish her well in her new role.
