Drawn order for Golden Cross this Sunday - classes with Candy 4,5 and 6

Drawn order for Golden Cross this Sunday 1st December

Approximate times are a guess only allowing 2 minutes per round x number of competitors – please don't hold a gun to my head if they are wrong!

Class 4: Debut - there are 29 in this class and I would guess it to start around 12.30

4th          Emily Allardyce Bassett – Nelly Kid

Class 5 -  Small Novice - there are 7  teams and a few individuals. We are the first team to jump following 1 of the individuals and would imagine the class would start around 1.45 so will need to warm up before walking the course.

2nd          Emily Allardyce Bassett – Nelly Kid

3rd          Frankie Walker – Fahys Queen

4th          Tilly Appleyard – Malone's Mate

Class 6:  Winter League – there are 18 in the class  and hopefully starting around 3.00

2nd           Frankie Walker – Fahys Queen

7th          Tilly Appleyard – Malone's Mate

Briosa will be there to walk the course with the small novice team – please meet him at the ringside at 1.00 as you will need to warm up before walking the course.

Please all be smartly turned out – clean, plaited horses wearing clean plain tack and wearing team saddlecloths.  Riders in hacking jackets, shirt, tie, badge, gloves, hairnet beige jods, clean boots and gaiters and again no bling!

Good luck to all of you – I will be there to support and to sample the bacon butties just in case they are not as good as they should be!

Holders of C and C+ test rallies - from Susie Newton and Sarah Taylor

Hi For all of those that hold their C test or C+ and are working towards the next test we have put a series of three rallies on that are for preparation of the mock test day for C+ and B test in April at Crockstead and the actual tests. They are not to replace normal rallies but are additional test practice:- Monday 30th December from 1pm course jumping at Felbridge Showground in the Bill Kear Arena with specialist attention to course walking, related distances, striding etc, this will be taken by Donald Kear. January 4th from 2pm at Alderlake, flat test riding practice this may include swapping horses in the session, focus will be on test requirements, instructor Sonia Chittenden. February 20th XC practice in the Eventing Arena at Pyecombe, again this will take on a technical aspect relevant to the tests. Instructor Sonia Chittenden. The Pony Club tests are a very valuable way of gaining knowledge both riding and stable management and we have had a huge uptake of members recently taking or working towards the tests. They can also help you bypass some of the lower BHS Tests and we are also looking into the older members being able to go on to taking the UKCC teacher training courses which would be fantastic!! Online booking will be available soon but if you could an express an interest on here I would be grateful!! Any further queries please message me or Sarah Taylor for any further information!! Flu vaccinations at Plumpton College - from Anne Cook

Further to my previous email regarding flu vaccinations, Plumpton College are now saying that as long as your horse has had a flu jab in the last six months that is ok - you do not have to wait 7 days. We will have to check with other venues to see what they require. Anne

08 October, 2019

Vaccination protocol - from Anne Cook, DC

Just to remind everyone that your horses and ponies need to have SIX MONTHLY flu vaccinations. All the indoor venues we use have this requirement so if vaccinations are not up to date you will not be able to take part in rallies or competitions. Also there must be a clear 7 days after a vaccination is given before you can attend a venue. So you will need to get your horse/pony vaccinated if it is more than six months since the last vaccination. I have been in touch with my vet and this is what they advise and we must respect the requirements of the venues we use. Thank you. Anne

Turton Hunter Trials - Wivelsden 22nd September

The Turton Hunter Trials, our last event of the season at Wivelsden, is taking place next Sunday, 22nd September with classes from 50 – 80cm, including pairs.  The full schedule can be found on our website: sdhepc.org

Please come and support "your" club by competing at the event and/or by helping  set up beforehand, clearing up at the end of the day, or helping on the day with fence judging (a separate e-mail will be circulated for help with these tasks).

As you will be aware, our last event had to be canceled due to low entries and the fact only 4 people offered to help!  It is by running these fund raising events we are able to subsidise the cost of rallies and camps – if they were not run, we would not be able to continue to subsidise rallies and events and these costs would have to be met by the membership.

If every family within the membership gave a couple of hours of their time to our events it would make life easier and more enjoyable for the select few that do. Fence judging, for instance, is good fun and a family affair. Sit in a chair, hopefully in the sunshine, watch competitors enjoying our course and place a tick or X against their number on a score sheet for your allocated fence (full instructions will be given on the day) whilst eating a picnic – what is there not to enjoy about that! It is very sociable and the children love helping Mums and Dads with it (you do need to be over 18 to fence judge). For those members that are too young to fence judge there are plenty of other things to help with – arena party for show jumping courses when we hold ODE's, dressage score sheet collecting, tea and cake runs……   Please, please, come and support "your club".

Area eventing teams - from Rebekah Walker

Many thanks

Cancellation of ODE 8th September

It is with great disappointment that we have no option but to cancel our One Day Event scheduled  to take place at Wivelsden on 8th September, due to very low entries (29) and lack of helpers (4!).

As organisers, and as a Branch, we are all very disappointed but hope that by canceling now those entered will be able to enter other events and we will of course refund your entries asap.

We won't let this dampen our spirits and very much hope you will be able to come to our Hunter Trial at Wivelsden on 22nd September

Mini ODE Sunday 8th September

Hello all

We are organising our mini ODE on Sunday 6th September.

This is a good opportunity for youngsters who have practised their cross country skills over the summer and at camps to put them into practise.

I need to find help from folks to sit at the cross country jumps and make sure that everyone is over them safely and report back that all is going well.

It's a friendly atmosphere and we don't need people with loads of experience, as full instructions will be given.

If you can help for a few hours ( it won't be an early start). Please contact sally on sallyannharper@me.com.   Or 07753777073z

Please do help.

Thanks in advance

Sally
