Programme

As you may know Clare Rigler very kindly assembles, prints and posts a programme card to all members of the branch aged 10 years and under as we know many of the younger members like being able to read, mark up and keep a card rather than dealing with 'virtual reality'.

The Programme is on the branch website http://tinyurl.com/bpkg48f and we hope to keep it up to date once more!  More activities are being planned so do keep referring back to it.

Finally a reminder that our working rallies are for all ages and abilities and everyone is welcome.

Ardingly Show Jumping - from Jane Walsh

As we have cancelled the January 12th Dressage  at Plumpton College we have decided it would be a good opportunity to use the booking space for jumping instead as it is the week before the Ardingly Show..   Vinnie has offered to do a small course for us.    This will be with fillers etc. and Vinnie will be on hand to offer help and advice.   The cost will be £10 per session starting at 10.30 with 2' and increasing up to 2'9/3  which will finish at 2.30.    Please use a normal rally booking form and indicate at which height you would like to practice and if you have entered for Ardingly.    Priority will be given to those who  will be competing  but all are welcome to come and have a practice but you must be competent jumping at the height you have indicated on the form.    Jane Walsh

Calling all our potential dressage riders..

Our recent dressage rallies have been well attended and feedback has been so positive.

Please consider putting what you've learnt into practice by entering our forthcoming winter dressage competition on 1st December at Plumpton college.

It is a friendly event and a good experience for the riders and ponies.

Your support if our branch events is very much appreciated.

Kind regards

Jo

Tetrathlon - are you interested?

TETRATHLON COULD BE COMING TO SOUTHDOWN EAST IN 2014!

Pony Club Tetrathlon provides Members with a challenging competition requiring sound practical horsemanship and general athletic ability. Tetrathlon is made up of four phases - shooting, running, swimming and riding. Generally the riding phase is cross country with a couple of obstacles added in, e.g. negotiating through a gate.

Are you interested?

If you think you might be interested please express this and let me know so we can kick start our rallies/training programmes etc.

You will be invited to an Introduction to Tetrathlon rally at the beginning of next year where members will be able to learn more, have a taster of what's involved and parents can ask any questions too.

I look forward to receiving lots of names!!

Programme Organiser

For a mixture of reasons including returning to full time employment Claire Fry has told me she would like to hand over the task of Programme Organiser (PO) to someone else.  Claire is very committed to the branch and she will continue to be heavily involved but focussing more on our main events.
The job is primarily one of planning, coordinating and communication.  We have various organisers who regularly put on rallies and other activities but part of the PO's function is make sure we cover all disciplines, areas and age groups.    Various theories have been advanced over the years concerning the best way to tackle the job including having a single meeting once a year to sort it all out to just placing a lot of calls, sending texts and emails and waiting for replies.  An ability to 'hassle' is a positive advantage (along with a GSOH and infinite patience)!
Our main method of communication is now electronic be that email, website or social networking.  Ideally the PO should be comfortable with modern forms of communication and setting the programme up online does require some very basic knowledge of HTML so it can be 'set' in a table.  Training can be given.
We also know that a printed programme card sent out roughly three times a year is well received by our youngest members so an ability to work with MS Publisher or equivalent is also very helpful.
If this sounds like you and you have a bit of spare time please email me back or contact me on 07979 801420.

I look forward to hearing from, well, someone, please!
