Hi All,

Showjumping Rally (Levels 1&2) at Chelwood Equestrian Centre  Saturday 1st September

12.00pm.   Daisy Burgess - Bracken
Lettuce Schulz -
Libby Webber - Pasha
Zac Webber - Chloe

This Rally will be in the indoor arena

Please could you all be mounted, ready at your allocated time.
Correct Pony Club dress code please, ponies to be clean and wearing plain tack.
Please clear up any hay and droppings from the lorry park.
Horses are not to be left unattended tied to trailers/lorries.

Polly will be instructing and any help to put the jumps away at the end would be greatly appreciated!

I hope you all have a fun Rally, sorry i won't see u this time due to other commitments.

Tracy

Branch Website

Dear Members and Members Parents/Carers

In the next few months we are looking to update our website and introduce online booking and payments using PayPal.  This will allow rallies to be booked online, paid for there and then, and all supported by a calendar so it's easier to see what's on when.  You will also be able to make payments for camp so, if it helps, you can pay little bits at a time.  In short we aim to have a more modern and functional website.

This, as you can imagine, is time consuming for someone who doesn't know what they are doing so we are looking for some help!

Essentially we are looking for anyone familiar with the Wordpress content management system and has a basic grasp of HTML.  Experience of website administration (especially in an e-commerce environment) and basic data handling would also be very useful.  We are not looking for application development skills as such.

Now as you can probably tell I have no idea what those things mean and Mike, our lovely treasurer, has helped me with the big words!!  Mike and I look after the website at the moment, so someone who could spare time to maintain it when it's built would be much appreciated.  Also help with managing the photographic archive wouldn't go amiss!

I think this would be great improvement to our branch and make things a lot easier for us all to use.

If anyone can help with even a little bit of this please do let me know.

My e-mail is gemma_547@hotmail.com or number 07901876199

Many thanks

Chloe 13.1 mare, aged 7

This is Chloe a beautiful 13.1 Welsh Palomino mare and ideal second pony. She is 7 years of age and has been with us on loan for the last year. Unfortunately my daughter has grown too much in the last year to show her although still enjoys riding her and having fun.

Chloe is the safest pony we have had out hacking and is a dream in the biggest of open fields. She prefers company and will happily follow along at any speed. We have done a variety of things with her including Pony Club junior camp, rallies, showing and jumping.

She is ridden bare back to and from the field, lives out in the summer, is good to stable and travels well in the trailer.

She is currently barefoot, up to date with her vaccinations and teeth.

She has been clipped but does require some patience for this.

Chloe is up for loan with the view to buy from October. She is competing at the Sunshine Tours Hickstead in a few weeks.

Please feel free to contact me if you wish to have any further information.

Showjumping news

On a very hot July 15th,  our branch sent 2 teams and 1 individual to the Area showjumping competition held at Golden Cross. Abigail Johnson riding Toberscanavan Poppy was the sole entry from SDHE in the 90cm novice class and the teams in the 80cm Regional Championship consisted of: Charlie Collins riding Hillside Warrior, Amy Newton riding Milparks An Dlaiog, Tilly Appleyard riding Malone's Mate and Sophie Etherington riding Lady  along with Lily Taylor Martin riding Forest Fire, Amalie Conroy riding Pegasus and Freya Conroy riding Prince.

There were 25 teams in the 80cm and all had to jump 2 rounds so a long day in the extreme heat with very little shade. The first round especially caused lots of faults and eliminations over a testing course.  Meanwhile Abigail was jumping 2 rounds in the indoor arena.

Although we came away without any placings everyone rode well and I think I am right in saying you all gained valuable experience from the day, it was a big occasion and you all upped your riding.      All were immaculate in their turnout and your team spirit in and out of the ring was superb, you were all a pleasure to be with.

On 4th August we had a mini team competing at the Southdown Hunt West Interbranch competition held at Hickstead. The team was: Arabella Goodwin riding Babe, Daisy Burgess riding Eaglehurst Batman, George McCaldin riding Roo and Jessica McCaldin riding Dilly.  28 teams were entered and our team had a very early start as first to jump at 8.00!  The class was run as a 2 phase competition where the second part of the course is timed to determine the jump off times and placings. The best 3 rounds count and our team produced 3 lovely clear rounds with good times and set the pace for the rest of the competition.  It was a nail biting wait, but our team could not be beaten and we came a fantastic 1st!!!  Individually George finished 6th, Arabella 7th and Jessica 8th – a huge well done to the whole team, a fantastic achievement for our branch and you all looked incredibly smart in your winning rugs.

Many thanks to the parents who give up their time to drive our members to competitions and for supporting our branch. These days are usually very long and sometimes we don't get the results we would have hoped for, but as a branch we all pull together and support one another, which is what our Pony Club is all about.

More Interbranch competitions will be circulated shortly for the winter season. In the meantime take a look at the programme page on our website which lists all the rallies on offer.  In order to represent the branch you will need to have attended a minimum of 3 mounted rallies, but you are also very welcome to ride at the rallies without wanting to compete.

Level 1 and 2 rallies ( up to 75cm) are organised by Tracy Collins – 07789 898263

Level 3, 4 and 5 rallies (above 75cm) are organised by Candy Robbins – 0781 6580322

Please contact Tracy or Candy for any further information regarding jumping rallies and competitions.

Fence Judges for the Mini ODE

Hello everyone

The Branch's  next main event is coming up soon, the Margaret Sheffield Mini ODE which is being held on Sunday 9th September at Wivelsden Farm.

I'm again recruiting the fence judges and am looking for volunteers.  Busy with a child taking part? Perhaps you could do half a day before or after your class?

It's a great opportunity to see the youngsters bombing around, some of them for the first time, from the comfort of a nice deck chair.

Please can you reply back to me.   Sallyannharper@me.com    Or message on.  07753777072.  If you think you can give up some time.  As always, you'd be well fed and watered during the course of the day.

Hope to hear from lots of you soon!
