If you have them please bring pale gloves and any fluorescent items for the child and pony. Also a pen and paper. Please do not buy anything you will not use again just let me know and I am sure we can borrow what is needed. NO earrings or piercings.

Please could you arrive in plenty of time for your allocated slot and be mounted ready to rock 'n roll! The rallies are all being held in the outdoor arena.

 

Chelwood Equestrian is located on the road between Nutley and Chelwood Gate and the entrance is on the right hand side, on the sharp bend about .5 mile from the Chelwood Gate end, and signposted Chelwood Farm. Drive slowly down the lane, keep to the right and the farm is through the double wooden gates. Lorry parking is behind the main buildings (lots of room!)

Once mounted, come back to the wooden gates at the entrance, bear left beside the barn usually housing a large horse lorry, down the slope to access the school.

 

All horses and riders are to be immaculate in their turn out – clean ponies and clean plain tack (no bling!) Riders to wear pony club sweatshirt and tie, white shirt, beige jodphurs, boots and chaps, gloves and hairnets for the girls.  If your hat is not tagged, I can do it for you on the day.

 

Please do not leave ponies unattended tied up to boxes, and please clear up droppings and any spilt hay. 

 

This rally is not a lesson in itself, but an assessment to see what standard you and your pony are at  in order to place you in the correct riding group at camp – it also gives us a chance to pair up people at similar standards and also a chance for you to meet fellow campers.  I hope you all have a fun time and look forward to seeing you next Wednesday.

We are still joining OS&B Pony Club for there shoot training swim training at Cumnor House School is now run by Area11.

 

Tuesdays

There are weekly shooting practices at Taylor's Gun Club in East Court, every Tuesday from 5.30pm until 7.30pm. Guns, pellets and targets are provided. Complete beginners are welcome as full training is given but please ring Margaret Allday (via Nicky Collins) first. Children must be 8 yrs old or over. There is a pool table too!

 

Fridays

There are weekly swimming practices on Friday evenings 6:15-7:15pm. They are run by Emily Miles (Bright) who is a past OS&B member, a medal winner at Junior & Senior World Championship level in Modern Pentathlon, and one of four National Pony Club Tetrathlon Mentors.

 

This swimming is now under the Area 11 umbrella, so open to any S.D.H.E. members that may wish to attend. If anyone wants to come Margaret, from OS&B, would be grateful if they could let her know as she needs to know names in advance in case there is a problem and she needs to contact them and save them a journey. Please book in with Margaret Allday (margaretallday41@gmail.com ) first. Cost £9 for an hour's lesson.

The XC rally is suitable for those jumping 70cm and under. Most of the jumps are small and inviting but there are a few skinny fences and angles. The time has been moved to the afternoon for anyone wishing to go to Melanie's rally in the morning and then onto Felcourt after lunch.

Team selection rally - groups with Candy

I have been inundated with members for the team selection rally on 3rd June at Felbridge. On the basis of first come, first served (and paid!) my groups are all FULL. (These are for those jumping 2'6 and above) I can operate a cancellation list but with no promises.

Emily is still taking names for her team selections at the moment.

Hickstead teams - replies to Candy or Emily as appropriate

I now have the schedule for the inter-branch show jumping being held at Hickstead on 6th August 2016

 

Class 1:  70cm Teams: Riders 11 years and under on 1^st January 2016. Jumps approx.. 70cm in the first round.  Combinations not to have competed in Novice level or above at Area show jumping or horse trials.

 

 

Class 2:  80cm Teams: Riders 14 years and under on 1^st January 2016. Jumps approx..   80cm in the first round.  Combinations  not to have competed in Novice level or above at Area show jumping or area horse trials.

 

 

Class 3:  90cm Teams: Jumps approx.. 90cm in the first round. Combinations not to have competed at Intermediate level or above at Area show jumping  or Area horse trials,  or been placed  in the Open class.

 

 

Class 4: 1m Teams:  Limited to 2 associate members per team. Jumps approx.. 1m in the first round.

 

 

 

 

The 70cm teams will run on grass, the 80cm and 1m teams will run in the polo all weather arena

and the 90cm Teams will run in the new all weather arena.

 

90cm and 1m classes will start at 8.00, the 70cm class at 9.00 and the 80cm class will follow after the 1m class has completed.

 

The team event will incorporate an individual competition.

 

First round:  All teams will jump in drawn order and will be timed in case of later tied results

Second round: All teams on a 0 score will nominate 1 member to represent the team for final team placing. This member must have gone clear in the first round.

The rest of the competitors who jumped clear in the first round will jump a second round to establish individual places.  This will be jumped in the original drawn order.

 

 

If you are interested  in being considered for any of  the above and meet the criteria for the class  please contact the appropriate team manager via e-mail  by 28^th May very latest.

 80cm, 90cm and 1mt names to Candy Robbins and will cost £7.50 to secure the place + another £10.00 cash on the day for the hire of the arena.

 

  Places will be limited and will be given on a first come first served basis with rally forms being posted to the organiser and accompanied by the £7.50 payment. If you need to pay by BACS please do this and then post a copy of the BACS receipt along with the rally form.

 

 

A place will not be given until the rally form and payment in full has been received.

Once the rallies are full a cancellation list will be put in place.

Please could you all be tacked up and ready to start promptly at your allocated time so the group is not disrupted by late arrivals!  Horses, tack and yourselves to be spotlessly clean and correctly turned out for a working rally i.e. gloves, tie, hairnet, clean boots and gaiters, pony club sweatshirt/jacket and no bling!

 

Sarah Muggeridge will be teaching and help with setting up jumps will be most appreciated.

 

Please clear up all droppings from the school and also hay and droppings in the car park.

Team Selection for Area Showjumping (3^rd July) and Hickstead (6^th August)

 

These are the names I have so far for the selection rally on 3^rd June at Felbridge for the above team events;

If anyone else would like to be considered for these teams, you will need to attend this selection rally. Please post your rally form and payment of £7.50 (+£10.00 cash on the day for the hire of the arena. If paying by BACS you will need to attach a copy of the transaction with your rally form.

 

Closing date is this Sunday 22^nd May as I need to get the nominations in early next week.

Those above who have not paid, please do so by return to secure your place.

All combinations must have attended a minimum of 3 mounted working rallies in since 1^st July in the previous year, one of which must have been in this current year.

 

 

Area classes are as per my previous e-mail, and Hickstead classes will be circulated very shortly.

Area eventing

Dear All

This year the Area Eventing competition will take place on June 26 at Bonfleur.

The two qualifying classes are - Novice (90/95cm) and Intermediate (100/105cm). To be eligible for these classes the combination MUST have completed a minimum of 3 rallies since July 2015 and have experience eventing at the level you are wanting to enter. 

There is also an 80/85cm class which is open to all.

C+/B training

Hi everyone.
I'm writing to everyone who is aiming for either their c+ or b tests.  Hazel has very kindly offered to co-ordinate these rallies in preparation for these examinations.  As you can imagine this takes planning and time to organise!
Please come and join in with these rallies, you don't have to do the test but at least you can see what it involves and you never know you may change your mind!! We would love to see more candidates going forward to these tests and achieving what you all deserve.
The idea is to run a course of varied rallies and also some stable management evenings to get everyone up to the standard necessary.  Please let Hazel know if you want to put your name down or e mail me on pollythom@hotmail.co.uk if you have any questions.  
Please don't feel you have to do the test, we would just like to see some new faces!  We will aim to put on a test in the late summer/Autumn.  If we don't have enough candidates I will liase with another branch to make sure a test happens.  Therefore please come forward if you want to do either of these tests, as we will only put tests on if we have candidates!
