Mini ODE Sunday 8th September

Hello all

 

We are organising our mini ODE on Sunday 6th September.

 

This is a good opportunity for youngsters who have practised their cross country skills over the summer and at camps to put them into practise.

 

I need to find help from folks to sit at the cross country jumps and make sure that everyone is over them safely and report back that all is going well.

 

It's a friendly atmosphere and we don't need people with loads of experience, as full instructions will be given.

FRIDAY EVE 6th SEPTEMBER   6pm onwards- Roping, dressage arenas and dressing of   x country fences.  SUNDAY 8th SEPTEMBER   DRESSAGE - Tack check, steward   and two dressage writers 8.30am-12 noon and 12 noon -3.30pm.  SHOW JUMPING - Tack check/steward 9.30am-1pm  and 1pm-4pm  X COUNTRY - Tack check/steward  10am - 1.30pm and 1.30pm - 5pm.  Please please come and help!!  Anne  

Mini ODE Sunday 8th September

Entries are still open for our mini ODE on Sunday 8th September at Wivelsden Farm - classes from 50cm - 80cm.

Please come and support our fund raising event - enter on line through our website; sdhepc.org - would be great to see lots of our members there enjoying the course and to show how much you have progressed over the summer.

Brenda Smith will be taking the 21st September rally and booking will be online soon!!

Sonia Chittenden will be taking the 27th October and Briosa is taking the 31st October.

Simon and I are having a party to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We have a Live Band, Lots of Food, Dancing until the early hours of Sunday and camping if you would like to stay!  I might even cook Breakfast for anyone who stays until Sunday !

Bring a Bottle or Two and a tent if you are staying.

Children are very welcome but your own responsibility as we do have a deep pond.

help needed to load jumps on to trailers tomorrow (Friday)

We are urgently in need of help to load the jumps and equipment used at junior camp at Plumpton Racecourse on to trailers as these need to be gone from the venue by midday tomorrow (Friday 16th August),due  to another event taking place there.

Please could as many parents of junior campers come and help with this - we will meet in the middle of the Racecourse at 9.30

Many hands make light work - please let me know if you are willing/able to help.

Junior/Mini camp

Please could all junior/mini campers bring a change of clothes tomorrow (Wednesday) for the water slide.

A reminder that on Thursday, all campers to go directly to our cross country course at Wivelsen Farm for 10.00 and we will finish at 3.00. - Please could all parents bring a bucket and plenty of water for the horses as there is not a supply on site.

All campers will need to wear a hat without a fixed peak  and to wear back protectors for jumping.

There is a toilet on site!

Hickstead team results from 3rd August

A great day was had by our show jumping teams taking part in the Inter branch competition hosted by Southdown Hunt West at Hickstead on Saturday 3^rd August.

The 70cm team all did really well with 2 of  the combinations competing at this height for the first time. The team was unplaced but was a great little team and will be one to watch in the near future.

Team members: Lily Musson – Smartie, Daisy Burgess – Bracken,  Sophia Jeffrey – Monty and Florence Goodwin – Jack.

 

The 80cm team came joint 10^th out of 30 teams! Team members : Arabella Goodwin – Babe, Ben Burgess – Oates, Emily Allardyce Bassett – Heather and Ella Currie – Drungeeny Arthur.

Arabella and Babe also won the class as an individual – huge congratulations and a big well done to all the team.

 

The 90cm team came 5^th out of 30 teams!!  Team members: Emma Robbins – White Orchid, Abigail Johnson – Midwych Skylla, Tara Keoshgerian – Muchwood Comanche and Tilly Appleyard – Malone's Mate.   Superb result girls.

 

Thankyou to Sonia and Briosa for doing the course walks and warming up as well as fitting in senior camp presentations.

 

Great team spirit from all and a pleasure to be with.  Well done everyone.

Looking for a new horse

We are in the process of looking for a new horse for my fourteen-year-old daughter.

We are hoping to find a gentle 15+ allrounder, who has no vices, is good in traffic, to load, to clip, to shoe and to vet and who likes both show jumping and cross country. We are based at a lovely, small private yard near Lewes and are hoping to find a full loan but would consider buying if necessary.
