Please see the advert below sent in by family of an ex Branch member.

A much loved but sadly outgrown of 12.2 piebald pony for sale or possible loan.  He does a bit of everything, travels well, good to clip and with farrier, easy to catch, lives out and easy to handle.  Not a first pony as can be strong but totally safe.  He doesn't buck, rides out alone or in company and has done Pony Club camp over the last few years.  He would suit competent child who wants to have fun.    £650, but may consider loan home.  For more information contact Nicola Young 07905 115406  / nicola@hendall.co.uk

Hat Tagging for Camp

My apologies to anyone I haven't replied to regarding hat tagging ahead of camp (as requested in the forms).  Please don't panic - I will be present on the first day of each camp and it makes more sense to deal with it then than have people make special journeys!

Area Showjumping 13th July 2014

Area Show Jumping – 13th July 2014

A little information for the Novice teams, Hazel and Amy who are representing the Branch at the above competition.

The event is being hosted by Mid Surrey Branch  and their venue is: The Pony Club Field, Hurst Road, Walton On The Hill, Surrey. KT20 5BN

Class 1:  Starting promptly at 9.00  - Hazel is 3rd and Amy 4th to jump

Class 3 : Starting promptly at 9.00.  Our team of: Olivia Greenwood, Jessica Copsey, Chloe Fry and Emma Robbins is 8th to go.  The team of: Alex Irwin, Jason Watson, Jasmine Pearce and Will Beldham is 11th to go. The first team will need to walk the course with Sarah at 8.00.  The second team is the first team to go after the 2nd course walk at approx.. 11.30 – not sure how long they are allowing for each team to jump, but that does sound generous.

All competitors are to present, as a team, to the turn out judges at their allocated time – 30 minutes before their jumping time. Hats must be tagged, if you need yours to be tagged take to the secretary (unmounted). A turnout parade will be held before the second round.

All riders will jump 2 rounds and their scores will be added together. The best 3 scores for each team will be added together for the team result. If need be, one nominated rider from each team may have to do a jump off to decide the placings

Competitors must be ready to compete when requested if the competition is running ahead of time, so look out for riders withdrawing and therefore bringing the running order forward.  Sarah will warm both teams up!

Tack and Turnout is strict.  All horses to be plaited and trimmed appropriately. They must be immaculate – no stable/grass stains mud – and of a healthy appearance.  Horses should be well shod, and wearing clean, correctly fitting saddlery in a good state of repair (check stitching on stirrup leathers, girth straps, reins etc. and make sure stirrup irons are big enough for your feet!)

Boots and bandages must be clean and correctly fitted. Make sure all keepers are tucked in.

I will bring team saddle cloths for you on the day.  Tack should be plain, no bling!

Riders to wear hacking jackets with badge on the left lapel. Beige jods, boots, gaiters, pony club tie, gloves, hairnet, white shirt etc.  Hair to be tidy and clothing clean, with a neatly tied tie. Spurs to be clean and correctly fitted.

There will be refreshments and first aid. A farrier and vet will be on call. Remember to bring lots of water for your horses.

Dogs are allowed on a lead and kept under strict control.

If you need any further information, please give me a shout, or I will see you bright eyed and bushy tailed at Walton On The Hill on Sunday morning at about 7.45 – yuk…..

Good luck to everyone and hope you all have an enjoyable and successful day.

Saturday's Rally @ South Brockwell's from Sally Ashen

We have up to 3 spaces left in Class 2 at 11am on Saturday 12th July at South Brockwells L2 - L3, please email sash99@hotmail.co.uk for a place.

Sally

*PLEASE READ*

Before going into details the Events Committee would like to say a huge *Thank You* to everyone who came to help us run the CDMS Horse Trials on 22nd June last - it was a hugely successful event enjoyed by all.

We will be holding the Tom Moon Horse Trials at Wivelsden Farm on Sunday.  We have a field of over 150 entries which is very encouraging and a major vote of confidence from our customers that we run good shows.  You know what comes next of course - as always we, *again need a lot of help* both in jump judging, stewarding, tack checking and other support roles !

Following on from feedback received we have tried to introduce a new system so helpers can 'sign up' online.  This is available here: http://tinyurl.com/qcy8ewl.  This is a Google sheet so anyone with the Google Sheet application running on an Android 'phone/tablet or with the correct plug-in for Google Chrome should be able to go straight in and add to it.  If this tech stuff leaves you cold please email heidi.greenwood@sky.com *AND* clairemfry@hotmail.co.uk and they will update the sheet for you.

Your help and support is much appreciated - Southdown East is a very successful branch of the Pony Club and that would not be possible without you!

Pony for mini camp and a sharer wanted for 11.3 section A

I am looking for a pony for Isabel (5 and a half and very keen) to take to mini camp this year as she needs something less green than our Shetland and is not quite ready for Millie yet.

I am looking for a sharer for Millie as she is not doing enough work.   The ponies are kept near to Folders Lane, Burgess Hill, just past the industrial estate.   Millie will do everything.  She is 11.3 but quite forward going.

Please email me on gill.mcpate@yahoo.co.uk or text 07715 721504

Many thanks,

Yours sincerely,

Hickstead mini team selection DATE CHANGE

Dear All

Sorry for any confusion caused.

Hazel

Tom Moon ODE Helpers

Good evening to you all,

Firstly THANKYOU so much to all those that came and supported the previous event, either competing and/or helping. We could not have run this event without you.

Following on from the huge success for our branch at the ODE that we hosted we now have to push on and organise the next one!

We are having the Tom Moon Contracts  ODE on Sunday 13th July at Wivelsden Farm, by kind permission of Nick and Sonia Harvey. It is designed for novice riders/ponies, first timers and the more competitive competitors. Classes for all! It would be wonderful to see lots of our younger members competing at this event; it is aimed at them with a 40cm led/assisted class and goes upto Level 3 which is approx 90cms.

Having had real difficulties engaging helpers for the last event we have taken on board your comments (which were very much appreciated,  thankyou) and are trialing a new way of enabling you to choose what you would like to volunteer to do. Please do all take a look and volunteer a few hours either on the Friday/Saturday to set up, on the day am/pm or help with packing away/towing trailers on Sunday afternoon. If we get lots of helpers, and many of you give up two hours of your weekend then the event will be a BIG success. Click on this link to see the helpers document. Alternatively you can of course let Claire or myself know of your availability and we can pop you on!

As always let us have some feedback! We are always very open to hear your views. Please do help out! We are also looking to recruit more parents onto our Events Committee! Could you get more involved and join us for meetings (normally every 6 weeks) in the pub? Do you have any skills that might benefit your branch? We are a nice welcoming bunch of people! Do speak to me for more information.

Kind wishes,

Heidi x
