Invitation to Summer Camps 2018

Please find attached an invitation to attend one of our summer camps at Plumpton Racecourse.

There is no booking form as such - your will receive many forms to complete in due course if you are coming.  All I need is an e-mail or text to say you want to come but remember that bookings are provisional until the non-refundable deposit is paid and membership renewed.  This is all explained in the attachment.

An invitation to the Senior Camp briefing on Tuesday 20th February has been sent previously but is reproduced below for the benefit of new members of which, I am happy to say, we have several.

Thank you to all those who are ahead of the game and have renewed their membership for 2018.  Memberships are due for renewal on 1st February and I will soon be sending another reminder to those I have not heard from.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Mike

Hi All,

Following the success of previous years meetings we thought we would repeat the event and hold another pre Senior Camp meeting.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for our new members, and our potential first time campers, to gain a good understanding of what Senior camp life and activities are all about.

Based on last year's attendance there were a lot of first time campers and we are expecting the same again this year.  Realising that for many, this will be the first time away from home without parents we wanted to try and give you a realistic idea of what to expect.  Hopefully, this meeting will help you make an informed decision as to whether Camp is up your street or not.

Even if you came to Camp last year for the first time, and you would like to revisit the routine, you are more than welcome.

The meeting will be held at Plumpton Racecourse in The Paddock Bar on Tuesday 20th February 7.15pm for 7.30 start.  Light refreshments will be provided.  There's a map attached to show where the meeting will be held which might help if you have never visited the racecourse before.

It is intended that the evening will take the format of an introduction to the staff and overview of Camp life followed by a short Q & A session.  It is also our intention  to run a hat and body protector checking session as the required standards have recently changed.  So, if you want to bring your hat and body protector along to make sure they comply then please do.

We would very much like an idea of numbers, so if you do plan to attend could I ask that you drop a line to stuart.fellingham@ntlworld.com.

Look forward to hearing from and meeting you all shortly.

Kind regards

Stuart & The Camp Team

Horse Wanted

We are in the process of looking for a new horse and wondered if you would put and advert on the pony club website for us.
We are looking for approximately 15.2-16.1, allrounder between 7-11, has no vices, good in traffic, clip, shoe and vetting that also likes to jump both showjumping and cross country. And a 5 star home would wait at a small yard in Ditchling and would consider a full loan or horse to buy.

Pony Club Pony wanted.

14'1 – 15'1, sensible type wanted for my tall 12 year old to do all PC activities on including camp. My daughter has outgrown her slightly forward 13hh New Forest and is looking for the next step up. She's currently jumping courses of 60cm and would love something with scope to go higher. We don't mind a mare or gelding or a young or older horse it just needs to have the right temperament, be good in open spaces, easy to handle, good in traffic and load etc.  The pony will be stabled at home with other horses and access to the Downs. Please let me know if you think you have anything suitable.

Many Thanks

For Sale: Lu-Lu

Please note, allowing members and others to post adverts for members is a service which Southdown East branch of the Pony Club is offering to members as a benefit of membership.  It is done in good faith and without any liability on the part of the Pony Club.  If you enter into any arrangement advertised or purchase any item following an advertisement listed by the branch, you do so as a private individual, without recourse to the Pony Club, and must satisfy yourself that any product or arrangement is suitable for your circumstances.

FOR SALE

It is with great sadness that we are looking to sell Lu-Lu our gorgeous Cremello 11.1hh pony. She is 13 years old and has done both mini and junior camp for the last 7 years. She's fab lead rein, 100% in traffic and loves hacking. She's easy to clip, lunge and box. We regularly take her to local shows and last year she competed at the Hickstead Sunshine Tour.

She can throw a cheeky buck in when in season and doesn't want to be schooled! Great with kids aged from 2-17. Ridden by any age. Does pony rides at the school fete and unicorn pony parties! 100% sound and never sick. Great lead rein and first ridden for stronger child. She is a handy pony champion and loves mounted games. I would be happy for a trial with view to buy and would like her to go to a Pony Club/active family where she will do lots.

She lives on fresh air and requires restricted grazing. We have had her since she was 6 and only just backed and she has grown with both my children who have unfortunately moved on to something bigger, although both still enjoy riding her aged 10 and 12. She loves jumping and will pick up the pace for a more experienced rider.

Home is very important and I will not part with her without vetting any future home.  POA

Senior Camp: a special opportunity for our older members.

Hi All,

I do hope that this email finds you all well and that you have all had a great time celebrating. The New Year is in and we are back to business now!

I just thought I would circulate this email to get a feeling for interest should the possibility arise for our older members to return to Senior Camp as Campers with Horses.

The plan would be that members of an age of 18 years and over can return to Camp and relive the whole experience. I know a lot of you may be crying out saying "well isn't that just Associates Camp".

Let me  reassure you. No it is not!  The intention would be that the members returning will partake in the same yard and riding experiences.  Abide by the same Camp rules and regulations only with the exception of NOT being part of the points system.  It will be residential and ALL will be answerable to the Muck Fairies in the Yard and ultimately to me throughout the week.

Ultimately, the idea is that we are able to offer our older members something a little bit different. The idea also being that it will be educational. However, I do feel that some may just like to relive the whole Camp experience all over again.

If this is something that may be of interest to you do please email me at stuart.fellingham@ntlworld.com  to express your interest. As you would expect there are a limited no of places available so I will have to do this simply on a first come, first served basis. Please also feel free to ask any questions you may have and I will do my best to clarify.

Look forward to hearing from you shortly.

Best regards

Stuart Fellingham
Senior Camp Commandant
