Winter Dressage Competiton at Plumpton

The Branch will be holding an Unaffiliated Dressage Competition at Plumpton College on Sunday 1st December.  Please try and support this event (which is open to non-members) and don't forget that dressage is THE KEY to success in all riding! 

We have run monthly dressage competetions over many years at Plumpton but recently attendance has been down are we are aware other orgainsiations (including Plumpton College themselves) are holding similar events.  If we don't generate a reasonable level of interest this may turn out to be our last one (:

Small Novice and Novice Jumping at Golden Cross 24th November

Many thanks to all those that came to the 2 practices at Felbridge over the last couple of weeks - Sarah saw some good jumping, and also those that came with an "issue" did well to resolve their problems.

 

This list is confirmation of the names that have been put forward for

team consideration, and for some individual entries too.   Some of you

attended the practices but have not as yet put your name down for consideration. I have added these to the list, so please can all of you confirm by return your availability.  Some names have been put under the height that Sarah suggests is suitable at this stage for a team. If you feel you would like to try at a higher height, you may be able to jump that height as an individual. The main thing is not to overface rider or horse, jump safely and enjoy the experience!

Winter dressage from Hazel

Dear All

If you are hoping to attend any One Day Events next year it would be great to see our members out practicing as much as they can this winter. Dressage is just as important as the show jumping, if not more!! I have been emailed a schedule of a dressage show being held at Sands Farm on Saturday 16th November. The tests are all the same as the ones used at the Pony Club One Day Events. If you are interested in taking part then please send me names byMonday 4th November.

Team selection rally times - Sunday 3rd November - from Hazel

Dear All

 

Here are the groups/times for our team selection rally on Sunday 3rd November. The rally is being held at Crockstead EC, here is the address should you need it - Crockstead Farm Hotel, Eastbourne Rd, Halland, East Sussex, BN86PT. If you get lost and need directions please give me a ring on 07876802996.

 

Please could you ensure the pony and tack you bring to the rally is EXACTLY THE SAME as the pony/tack you will take to Golden Cross. This is important so we can check all stitching etc and should any adjustments need to be made there will be time to do this. Ponies do not need to be plaited for the rally and Pony Club jumpers are acceptable instead of jackets.

 

Please arrive before your allocated time to ensure you are mounted and ready to get the most out of your hour, help getting the jumps out and putting them away will be gratefully received!

RALLY CARDS
Please remember when returning/filling in rally cards that the only rallies etc. allowed are those starred * on the programme, i.e. working rallies, stable management and some practices. Tests and test practices which are restricted only to those doing particular tests and practices which are restricted to team members only are not permitted, as are social events, i.e. BBQs etc !   Also please make sure your instructor at camps  only fill in the required slots relevant to the camp you are attending - this is 2 slots for mini camp, 3 for junior and four for senior.

Barbara will actually teach you as an individual but this gives you a clear running order. You should be ready warmed up before your slot and will have a chance to cool down afterwards as the next rider starts. The indoor school is spacious enough.

We are looking for a reliable and well-maintained 4x4 for towing our Ifor Williams trailer and two ponies / horses up to 15.2hh. It will also be used for running around esp in winter. Our 4X4 is currently off the road. If anyone can offer a lift to Bally (very easy to load travel etc) for the 10am session on 29th October that would be fab> He is at Bevern Bridge A275 in South Chailey so if anyone is passing through Lewes etc and might be able to help do get in touch.

2nd jumping practice at Felbridge - from Candy

There will be a further jumping practice at Felbridge on Wednesday 23rd October, from 2.00, for those comfortably jumping 2'6 and above and who would like to be considered for selection for the small novice and novice teams at Golden Cross on 24th November.

Sarah has put this extra date on to try and accomodate those who have a different half term to the practice being held the following week (this is full!)

 

Spaces are limited and will only be booked and secured on receipt of your details and payment of £7.50 made payable to SDHE and sent to me

at: 32, Chestnuts Close, Lindfield, West Sussex. RH16 2AU.  There is an also a £10.00 fee per horse for the hire of the all weather arena at Felbridge, and this needs to be paid in cash on the day.

 

Hope this date will be suitable for all those that can't make the original practice.

The next C+/B training will be on Wednesday 30^th October at Crockstead. There will be 1 or 2 groups depending on numbers, starting at 10, in the indoor school. Please let me know if you would like to come. It will cost £7.50 for the ridden part. Once I have the numbers, if it works logistically to include it, then stable management will be £5. I will confirm the stable management nearer the time.

I am planning to organise a trip to Coombelands in half term on Friday November 1^st. Hopefully the xc course will still be open so we could do some schooling. If not, I can see if the sj arena is free or the gallops.

Missing any Pony Club emails

From time to time I hear from those on our email distribution list that they have not received all messages.  Good as it is email is not 100% reliable and spam filters play their part spiriting messages away on a sometimes unpredictable basis.  I have gone to considerable lengths (and expense) to try and avoid our mail being treated as spam!

Effective now I am copying all mails I send to http://sdhepc.blogspot.co.uk which is an automated blogging system.  This will act as an archive and reference point.  The only thing it can't do is hold attachments (such as PDF documents); if it did I would make more use of it!

So if you feel others know something you don't you can check and then by all means ask me to resend or search the nether regions of your computer/tablet/phone or service provider's website!

2a Riders must be 12 years or under on the day of the show.

2b  For Individual riders 13 years and over on day of show. Combinations (rider and pony) should not have won more than £30 show jumping or represented their Branch at Novice Area show jumping Jumps approx. 2'– 2'3" / 65-70 cm

Entry Fee £10
