Camp 2024

Good and bad news!

 

Bad news – Camp will not be going ahead at Plumpton Racecourse this year.

The camp organisers are really sad at this news, as apart from covid years, it has been a traditional part of our branch to have a camp at this location for over 60 years.

The decision has not been taken lightly. Numbers have declined and whilst the Branch would (and always has) subsidise the deficit in fees, putting on such a huge event is not viable with so few able to attend. The camp atmosphere would not be the same and it would mean extra kitchen shifts for the parents of those attending.

We fully intend to resume camp at Plumpton Racecourse in 2025

 

Good news – We are very excited to offer a 3 day "day camp" that will run Tuesday 30^th July – Thursday 1^st August,  at Bucklands Farm in Balcombe. This will be a slightly different format from the usual and will include the use of their  wonderful cross country course, show jumping and dressage  facilities they offer as well as hacking on site for the mini people, mounted games and achievement badges.

More information will follow shortly. The cost is likely to be around £225 (this equates to £12.50 per hour for expert tuition and care of your darlings – both pony and rider!)

Pony Club, along with other organisations such as Guides/Scouts is in decline. We all lead busy lives and finances are also an issue.  However, as a Branch, we are passionate in keeping this organisation going. It forms such a fantastic foundation for learning and enjoying all aspects of equestrian activities. It creates friendships for life  as well as teaching social skills.  Please continue to support our Branch and therefore the Pony Club as a whole.

All Day Rally

All Day Rally at Bucklands Farm, Balcombe - Sunday 21st April - 10.00-3.00pm

A fun day of cross country, show jumping, flatwork, grid and achievement badges.

All levels and abilities are welcome - £70 for a full day of activities

Arena eventing rallies

We're very excited to be able to offer Arena Eventing rallies at the fabulous Hickstead show ground.

Along with the xc fences they also have a water complex, steps, ditches and banks.

Due to the height of the fences these rallies are open to all those jumping 70cm upwards.

There will be 2 groups with 4 riders in each at a price of £40. 

Rally date is the 23rd March 2-4pm with the very experienced Polly Thom teaching. Please ensure you book in plenty of time as bookings will close 10 days before the event and no tickets will be available after this date.

Dressage rally 24th February

For our next Dressage rally we have Brenda Smith teaching, who is a wonderful kind & encouraging instructor for both younger and older riders, she's taught pony club members for many years and is a B test examiner and knows her stuff ??

£19.20 for 1 hours lesson in the indoor arena at Chelwood Equestrian. 

Minimum 4 riders per group to go ahead.

Camps

Plans are underway for our annual camps and we would like to have an idea of numbers for each before we accept requests from other branches to join.

Senior residential camp runs from Sunday 28th July through to Friday 2nd August and Junior day camp Monday 29th July through to Friday 2nd August.  More details will be made available shortly once we have an idea on numbers and interest.
