Hi my name is Remy and I am looking for a new ??

I am a 12year old 13.2hh Welsh x warmblood mare.

I am told that I can be a little lazy at times and I'm a bit of a kick kick pony, but please don't let that put you off….. I am really safe and love to look after little people.

I really don't enjoy being ridden in the sandschool, but if it is only occasionally then I won't mind. I am 100% to hack out in open spaces. I have been doing pony club with my current mummy, but she now want to jump higher than I want to do, as I only want to jump up to 60cm. So I am now looking for a new little rider that I can look after and boost their confidence. I have been ridden by a 2yr on the leadrein and I was perfect and also by a 5yr old with an adult walking with us.

My mummy takes me out hacking with my friends, but I will also hack out on my own.

I am safe in traffic and with tractors etc, but I am not that keen on motor bikes if they come past too fast!

We have been to the beach loads of times, and I love it…..although I do like to pretend that I don't like getting my feet wet to start with! ??

If you are looking for a safe reliable kick along first pony/happy hacker…then I'm your girl! ??

Help with organising E/D/D+ rallies

Unfortunately due to personal circumstances our E/D/D+ organiser is unable to organise any rallies at this present time.

We realise this is a frustration to our younger members but as all our committee members and rally organisers are volunteers, we are very appreciative of all the work and time they dedicate to our branch and understand their need to devote time to other matters.

We are therefore looking for someone who could take on this role which includes the booking of a venue and instructor, promoting the rally via e-mail and then facebook, dealing with member queries on the lead up to the rally and being present on the day to support the instructor with any jumps that need setting up if required, clearing the arena and parking areas of droppings etc. It is possible that on the day of the rally this could be shared with another appointed person who is also there to assist the instructor in case of a fall.

You would liaise with the instructor to put members into correct riding groups and this is then e-mailed out to members with times and any other information. Following the rally a simple rally return is submitted showing all members that took part, who they rode and in which group – this is a requirement of HQ and has to be kept on file in case of an insurance query.

The Southdown Hunt East Branch would very much appreciate your support and look forward to hearing from anyone who can help.  If this is something you could help with or would like further information please contact either myself or Candy .

C level stable management rally 25th August

There is a C Test Level unmounted rally on Wednesday 25th August. This is aimed at members who are working towards taking their C test or those who who are interested in improving their horse and pony care/stable management skills and knowledge.

The instructor is Sonia Chittenden and the rally is being held at Little Box Farm, Fletching Common. £7 per member.

At the moment one group of 6 at 4.30 to 5.30 is available to book. If more members are interested, we will run a second group 5.30 to 6.30pm.

Show jumping 2021-22

SHOWJUMPING 2021-22

Team Selection:

We welcome and encourage all our members to step up and "have-a-go" in team events and also to compete as individuals.

However, we remind parents and members that we have a duty of care to our members and do not encourage children to be put forward for classes that are too much for them.

Groupings for both training and team selection are done on the basis of training attendance, experience of pony and rider, age and ability.  This is the competitive element of the branch and we work out teams in collaboration with our trainers with a view to competing with significant success. For example, if a member is competing successfully at 70cm (reasonably consistent clears) then we will feel happy to include them in a 70cm team.  We will possibly include them in a 80cm team if it is felt that the combination is ready to move up a level. However, please remember that a 10cm height increase also involves a corresponding increase in the width of spreads and often the frequency and nature of fillers and other obstacles.

The health and safety of all our members and their horses is of paramount importance and we will not take what we consider to be unnecessary risks and will not condone over facing either pony or rider.

As a branch, we do not limit the number of teams we enter and will try and accommodate all members who show an interest. However, personal invites are not an option and we will not chase people to join a team.  As we can only enter full teams, there are frequently reserves waiting so please do not try to organise teams yourselves!

Team selection is done through the show jumping organiser, Candy Robbins who liaises with the appropriate instructors, Sonia, Polly and Briosa for their levels – it is up to the instructors who are in the team.

Jumping practices and rallies are run throughout the year so the instructors can see combinations and their progress.  Team selections are NOT made at ordinary working rallies.  It is important for members to attend as many of these rallies as possible to gain experience and also to be able to jump with confidence when attending an event and not be out of their comfort zone.

For some competitions, such as Area and Interbranch, combinations have to be "rallied up" – attend a minimum of 3 working rallies.

Look out for e-mails with details regarding show jumping practices or  the programme on our website.

Team Events:

Please remember that when you are competing in a SDHE team, you are representing the branch and so we ask and expect the following:

Rudeness, pushiness or aggression towards anyone will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Clean and  plaited horses wearing clean, plain tack and equally clean and correctly turned out members (this includes hairnets, ties, gloves, beige jodphurs at all times – NO BLING!)

Appropriate behaviour and manners from all members and all those that they bring with them

The team manager only is to liaise with the event organisers. Multiple parents interfering causes stress and confusion. As a branch that organises large events itself, we are all aware that everything goes a lot smoother when dealing with 1 branch representative.  If an issue arises or you have a query, please contact either Candy or the support Instructor.

Here's to a successful 2021-22 season of show jumping.
