Camp 2024

Good and bad news!

Bad news – Camp will not be going ahead at Plumpton Racecourse this year.

The camp organisers are really sad at this news, as apart from covid years, it has been a traditional part of our branch to have a camp at this location for over 60 years.

The decision has not been taken lightly. Numbers have declined and whilst the Branch would (and always has) subsidise the deficit in fees, putting on such a huge event is not viable with so few able to attend. The camp atmosphere would not be the same and it would mean extra kitchen shifts for the parents of those attending.

We fully intend to resume camp at Plumpton Racecourse in 2025

Good news – We are very excited to offer a 3 day "day camp" that will run Tuesday 30th July – Thursday 1st August,  at Bucklands Farm in Balcombe. This will be a slightly different format from the usual and will include the use of their  wonderful cross country course, show jumping and dressage  facilities they offer as well as hacking on site for the mini people, mounted games and achievement badges.

More information will follow shortly. The cost is likely to be around £225 (this equates to £12.50 per hour for expert tuition and care of your darlings – both pony and rider!)

If this is of interest or you would like more information, please e-mail Candy on candyrobbins06@gmail.com  It would be good to have all interest registered by 10th March so we can continue with planning.

Pony Club, along with other organisations such as Guides/Scouts is in decline. We all lead busy lives and finances are also an issue.  However, as a Branch, we are passionate in keeping this organisation going. It forms such a fantastic foundation for learning and enjoying all aspects of equestrian activities. It creates friendships for life  as well as teaching social skills.  Please continue to support our Branch and therefore the Pony Club as a whole.
