Coronavirus

Hi All

I am writing this email to let everyone know that I rang Pony Club Headquarters yesterday and their policy on the Coronavirus is to follow the advice given on the NHS website.

This sets out all areas where there is a higher risk of Coronavirus. We feel that we have a responsibility to all our members and because things are changing so quickly, we have made the decision that anyone returning from these areas should self-isolate for 14 days even if they have no symptoms, so will not be able to attend any rallies during this time.

If you require more help, please call the NHS helpline 111.

Looking for a pony!

Looking for pony up to 14.1hh school master type, no vices for my eldest daughter. Need a steady, safe pony who enjoys PC activities, hacking, show-jumping and cross country for a rider who isn't gung-ho but loves her riding and is keen to do more. We offer a 5* knowledgeable home and with two other daughters potentially long term home for the right pony.

To:         All Members who want to go to Senior or Day Camp 2020

From:    Candy Robbins – Branch and Camp Secretary

Camp arrangements for 2020 are underway! Both will take place at Plumpton Racecourse. To secure a place I will need to receive your non-refundable deposit as shown below.

Deciding which camp to apply for can be a difficult matter as there are several factors: age, ability of the rider and pony, willingness to stay away from home and fully care for your pony all week etc.  The Branch may be able to assist in the decision making process and we offer a briefing meeting for first time Senior Campers or those considering coming to Senior Camp. Alternatively  have a chat with myself or Polly Thom, our Chief Instructor.

Coming to the most appropriate camp is a big step to achieving a happy outcome!

We will be holding a briefing session for first time Senior Campers and their families on Wednesday 4th March 19:15 for a 19:30 start, at The Bent Arms, High Street, Lindfield.  Hopefully attending the briefing avoids members coming to Senior Camp without any great understanding of what to expect and then feeling ill-prepared when camp begins.  It will also be an opportunity for us to explain some of the rules, including the use of mobile phones and so forth.  There will be ample opportunity for questions and answers.  Our goal is to ensure every camper has a thoroughly enjoyable, productive and memorable experience!

To assist with placing campers in the correct riding group, and preferably on the pony they intend to bring to camp, campers will need to have attended a minimum of 3 mounted working rallies between 1st January 2020 and start of camp.

If you were born before 24th July 2011, you are invited to Senior Camp, which will be held at Plumpton Racecourse from Saturday 25th July to Saturday 1st August. This Camp will be fully residential: riders and ponies will stay the whole week and there will be no going home at night and no access to a mobile phone except in an emergency.  Visitors are not permitted except for those who have volunteered to help in the kitchen.

Day Camp  (formally junior and mini camp, now merged as one) is intended for those aged between 5 and 11 as of 2nd  August 2020, but is not closed to older members.  It will be held at Plumpton Racecourse from Monday 3rd to Friday 7th August inclusive, which makes it five days long.  Riders and ponies go home every night.  The day is usually 9.30-3.30 – in the case of very young riders home time could be earlier if you think your child will struggle.  Unfortunately it is not possible to provide overnight turnout either at the racecourse or nearby.  Please note that for reasons of welfare and safety members attending Day Camp must be riding independently off the lead rein at all paces- mini riders will be allocated a helper for the week.

Places at camp may be secured by payment of a non-refundable deposit against the total fees

as follows:

Camp

Non refundable Deposit

TOTAL (including Deposit)

Senior

£100

£425

Day

£50

£200

Fees are kept as low as possible but may still require some cross-subsidy from Branch funds.  Please bear that in mind when we appeal for help in running our events!

As the vast majority of families now use e-mail to conduct Pony Club business I am happy to receive bookings by e-mail backed by payment direct into the Branch Account (20-49-76 30810541) or through Paypal via our new website.  Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis and bookings will not be treated as confirmed until supported by the non refundable deposit as above. Senior Camp will be capped at 50 members and target size of Day Camp will be 30 maximum.  We can offer the flexability of paying for camp by installments between now and 1st June 2020 when all fees must have been paid in full. If you would like to take up this option please can you let me know of your intentions when booking.
