For members working towards their C Test we are planning a C Test theory session in the Christmas holidays and practical stable management in the new year.

Drawn order and timings for showjumping competition at Golden Cross this Sunday

Morning all.

The estimated class times and drawn order are now available on SDHE website.

Sonia will be walking the course with the riders for each class so please be sure to arrive suggested half hour before your class starts in case we are running ahead of schedule.

X pole team, please meet Sonia at 8.15 to walk the course and then get warmed up as you are first to go.

60cm approx start time 10.15

70cm approx start time 12.45

80cm approx start time 14.30

90cm approx start time 16.15

Reminder to please plait ponies, clean plain tack, pc numnah or plain navy if you don't have one. Riders to wear beige/ light jods, boots and gaiters, white shirt with pc tie, hairnet, gloves and either a show or hacking jacket with pc badge please.

Also please print your numbers, BE have a good template.

Pony Club Quiz

he Pony Club quiz is a great opportunity to test your equestrian knowledge and to compete at Area and National Level representing your branch.

The 2023 Pony Club Quiz will be back to being in person and will be having an Mini section and a Junior/Senior section. 

If you are interested in competing in a SDHEPC team then please let us know. Michelle Beckett (minis and juniors) or Lorna Thwaites (seniors).

As with all Area competitions, rally attendance criteria must be met and teams will be finalised by our Chief Instructor Sonia Chittenden.

The Area quiz will be held at the end of January, and the National Final will be in April 2023.

Dear all,

Just to remind members that are working towards their C/C+ tests, the next rally will be on Sat 22nd Oct at Plumpton College. Subject to numbers there will be two groups with the first at 10am.

The rally will close for booking on Saturday so we can confirm groups so please book on asap.

Breen Equestrian visit Saturday 8th October

Breen Equestrian Yard Visit - Sat 8th Oct 10am. Please drop off your child/member at 9.50am as the tour starts at 10am prompt.

Myself and Michelle Beckett are the organisers and will accompany the tour. Please remember we are representing Southdown Hunt East and members need to be smart wearing Pony Club sweatshirts and suitable trousers and footwear for being on a stable yard. If the weather permits we will be walking the Hickstead Derby Bank.

The tour finishes at 11.30am when children can be collected. The address is Breen Equestrian, Hickstead Place, RH17 5NU.

This is a real priviledge for us to be shown around and the yard manager has been really helpful and kind in arranging.

Interbranach showjumping Tuesday 25th October

Hello all.

Crawley & Horsham pony club are hosting an interbranch sj competition on Tuesday 25th October @ Felbridge. Classes are from 60cm - 1m both team and individual. £14 per class or £48/50 per team.

Breen Equestrian visit - bookings open

Hi all - the tickets are now available to book for the yard visit of Breen Equestrian.

Breen Equestrian Yard Visit

This will be a talk and tour of their horses, facilities and a walk onto the Hickstead Showground. 10am to 11.30am. Members will need to make their own way to Breen Equestrian where we will meet together for the tour. Spaces are limited to 15 members only. Please drop your member(s) at the entrance to the yard where you will be met by the SDHEPC organisers.

Apologies to any parents who would also like to visit the yard but we need to keep our group to 15 members. If not all places are booked by our members, we will open up to parents to come and make up the numbers ??

Cross country rally 29th October - Lockskinners

Hi all our final cross country rally of the season is available to book on the website calendar.    Michelle Quibelle will be instructing at Lockskinners (North Course) on Saturday 29th October.
