As always turnout to be immaculate – horses must be clean and plaited, wearing clean and correctly fitting plain tack (no bling!) Riders to wear beige jods, boots and gaiters, tweed jacket, shirt, ponyclub tie, hairnet and gloves. Make sure your hat has the up to date WHITE hat tag on it – if not, come to the secretarys box when you collect your number and we will do it for you as long as it meets the latest standards.
Above all, have fun and enjoy the day. Whatever happens, keep smiling and there will always be another day – team spirit counts, so support one another and also our members in other teams.
Happy jumping

Southdown East Pony Club - Membership Renewal - First Notice
Hello
I hope you have all enjoyed a great festive season and are all tacked-up and ready to go for another year!
You are receiving this message because the e-mail address is associated with one or more members of the Pony Club whose membership needs to be renewed on 1 February if you wish to continue with us in 2016. Please find the form you will need to complete attached. If you do not respond by 28 February 2016 then your membership will lapse and you will no longer be covered by the Pony Club insurance policy.
If you do not intend renewing an e-mail to that effect will be greatly appreciated and will prevent follow up reminders.
You may print the form [please note I only need page 3], complete it, and either post it or scan and e-mail. It is also possible to fill the form in using Acrobat Reader and e-mail the pdf file to me saving paper, ink and postage.
If you can please complete the Gift Aid Declaration. If every member did that, the branch would be about £2,000 better off. A signature is required for this so if completing the form using Acrobat you will need to apply the image of your signature, a printed name is apparently not acceptable (not my rules!).
You may wish to make a bank transfer rather than send me a cheque in which case please note that our account is:
20-49-76 30810541
and please give your name as reference.
A form for booking places at our annual camps is being sent separately and you should receive it in the next few days.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Cakes needed for our January show please
Our 2 day show jumping show is fast approaching on the 16th and 17th January and now that Christmas is over, entries are coming in at a fair rate.
This 2 day show requires the help of many members and their families, and they all need to be kept fed and watered. Luckily our branch has many parents who are very good at cake making! Please could I ask for as many of you as possible to make a cake, cookies, flap jacks etc., with which to feed our helpers and also a plea for eggs as these are needed for breakfast for the early crew on both days.
If you are able to help with cakes or eggs, please bring to the show and hand in at the secretary's van where they will be gratefully received.
Many thanks and hope you all

Please could you all make sure you are tacked up and ready to start promptly at your allocated time and remember to wear correct pony club clothing and tack for rallies, including hairnets and gloves!
We are asked to poo pick the school and place droppings into the skips provided in the corner of the arena.
Sarah Muggeridge will be instructing and any help with setting up jumps would be much appreciated.
Chelwood Equestrian can be found on the road between Nutley and Chelwood Gate, and the access is on a sharp bend, but is signposted. Follow the drive down to the 5 bar gate, and then continue past the buildings to the lorry park on the righthand side – there is lots of parking, and again the area to be cleared of hay and droppings. To access the indoor school, turn left out of the lorry park and then bear left up a short track that goes between the buildings to the school entrance.
Please shut all gates behind you. Horses are not to be left unattended tied to trailers/lorries.
There are toilets on site. There is also a kitchen area we can use, but you will need to bring your own tea, coffee, milk etc. – quite civilised!!

Update on hat standards and back protectors ruling for 2016
Dear Members and Parents Headquarters have now made a decision with regard to hat standards. As previously advised, the hat standard BS EN 1384 has been removed as an accepted hat standard from 1st January 2016. The hat standards accepted as from 1st January 2016 are as follows:- PAS 015: 1998 or 2011* with BSI Kitemark. VG1 with BSI Kitemark. Snell E2001* with the official Snell label and number. ASTM-F1163 2004a with the SEI mark. AS/NZS 3838 1998, 2003 or 2006 *The PAS 015: 1998 or 2011 and the Snell E2001 meet higher impact criteria and therefore give more protection. We are now accepting the new red BE hat tags, so if Members have BE red tagged hats, they will not need tagging with a white Pony Club hat tag. Please check your hats to make sure they comply with the accepted standards. Body protectors used for cross country and pony racing must meet BETA 2009 Level 3 standard (purple label). Many thanks. Anne Cook

Our branch are hosting their 2 day show jumping event on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th January 2016 at Ardingly showground.
The full schedule is available on our website under "schedules". Please read carefully and make sure you put your name forward for the correct class/height. No horse may compete in more than one team.
The mini mini and mini classes + pairs relay are on the Saturday and small novice, novice, intermediate, dengie and puissance on the Sunday.
If you would like to be considered for a place in a team please send names for the Saturday classes to Emily Pincus and names for the Sunday classes to Candy Robbins so they can co-ordinate the branch entries and payments and avoid having lots of individual requests.
