Hickstead teams 6th August - order of running and important information

Hickstead Teams this Saturday

 

Firstly these are rules imposed by Southdown Hunt West that must be adhered to:

Tack & Turnout requirements are as per the SJ rulebook but please note the following in particular:-

• All hats to be tagged with up to date PC tag
• No jewellery, in particular earrings or other piercings
• All riders must wear correct dress including 
• a plain, dark or tweed jacket
• Pony Club tie
• Pony Club badge (left lapel)
• white/beige/cream jodhpurs
• Hairnet
• There must be 7mm clearance between boots and stirrups
• Free jump stirrups are allowed
• Anyone wearing spurs MUST produce a spurs card signed by the branch DC
• All tack must be clean, tidy and bling-free
• Girth, bridle and stirrup leathers stitching will ALL be checked
• All saddlecloths must be dark/plain.  The only personalisation allowed will be specific PC branch logos

 

 

Timings

Hickstead have installed new horse walkways to all rings, making the time to get to each ring longer – Please allow at least 30 minutes to get from the stable field, through tack check and to the rings (especially ring four)

 

 

Venue!

We ask that all competitors treat the venue with due respect.  In particular, if anyone is found in the International Arena (mounted or unmounted) the whole branch may be asked to leave immediately.

 

 

Hat Tagging:  I will bring tags on the day if your hat needs to be done

Jewellery:  Jewellery is no longer allowed even if covered up with tape!

Passports:  Please bring your horses passport in case there is a spot check

 

Parking for boxes and trailers is via Hickstead Village turnoff from the A23 and follow the signs into the stable field. Cars, unless towing a trailer will not be allowed to enter the stable field and must park on the main showground and enter via the separate main showground entrance.

 

Tack check opens from 7.15 and is usually at the bottom of the stable field on route to the arena's – please have passports and spurs cards at this point for checking – they are strict!

 

Competitors must be ready to jump when requested – if not present after one minute, they will be eliminated. Competitors must enter and leave the ring as directed by the stewards. Any breach of these instructions will result in elimination.  Each pony club will jump as a team and in the drawn order.

First round: All teams to jump in drawn order (will be timed in case of later tied results)

Second round: All teams on a score of 0 will nominate 1 member to represent the team for final team placing. This member must have gone clear in the first round. Nominations to be filled in by the Chef d'equipe  (Candy) and handed to the judges before the second round starts.

The rest of the competitors who jumped clear in the first round will jump in the second round to establish individual placings and will jump in original drawn order, and against the clock.

 

70cm teams – grass arena. Ring 3

 

Class starts 9.00.   Course walk at 8.15 with Angela (meet at the ringside)   37 teams in class

 

First team of: Megan Austin, Anna Currie, Jack Pincus and Rhianna Hawkins have been drawn 13^th so would estimate a jumping time around 10.00

 

Second team of: Ben Burgess, Lily Taylor Martin, Ella Currie and Ethan Collins have been drawn 33^rd so could do the second course walk at around 11.00 as estimate your jumping time to be around 11.45 but you are able to walk at 8.15 if you want to get the walk out of the way!

 

 

80cm Team: Ring 4, new arena.

Class starts 8.00. Course walk with Sarah at 7.15, meet by the ringside

 Poppy Westwell, Abigail Johnson, Frankie Walker and Charlotte Subedar are drawn 11^th to go (42 teams in class) estimate your jumping time to be around 9.00

 

90cm Teams: Polo arena (37 teams)

Class starts after completion of the open class in the Polo Arena and not before 12.00.

You lucky people can have a lie in but please be there by 11.00 to walk the course with Sarah in case things are hurried through and meet by the polo arena club house.

 

First team of: Emma Robbins, Chloe Macdonald, Tara Keosherigan and Francesca Turner have been drawn 12^th to jump so estimate that to be around 1.00

 

Second team of: Francesca Birt, Charlie Pincus, Jess Fry and Grace Riminton are drawn 33^rd to go but there is just the one course walk at around 11.00 so sorry you will have some waiting around to do before jumping but I am sure the first team would welcome any help with getting ready and for your support.

 

I will be there at 7.15 and will collect all numbers at the team managers briefing to pass on to you all from around 7.45.

 

Clear round jumping is available at  70cm & 90cm at a cost of £8.00 per round.  Tickets can be bought from the secretary or at ringside – these get busy so please be patient.

 

Hope this essay covers most points.  Please ensure you and your horse are spotless and all horses must be plaited – SDHE prides itself on the turnout of its'  members.  If you have a SDHE saddlecloth, please wear it – I do have some but probably not enough for all 5 teams. If possible please can you use plain navy saddlecloths so we stand some chance of matching!

 

Any problems with lameness, fitness etc., please let myself or Emily Pincus for the 70cm teams know asap so we can organise reserves.

Pony Wanted ~ 12.2hh

WANTED:-

 

I am looking to either loan or buy my daughter Antonia's next pony. We are looking for a pony around 12.2hh ( we are flexible on size) that loves to jump, XC and is safe out and about with other horses. Any pony would be kept in full livery and would be beautifully looked after.

Monty is a 14.1 16 year old New Forest pony, He is a very kind natured hard working pony. 

He was used in a riding school for 5 years before moving to a private yard in Buxted. 

Monty has attended South Down Hunt East PC camps and rallies many times as well as competing and qualifying for things.

He is a one of a kind pony and not one to miss, He is very experienced and is for loan through no fault of his own, Unfortunately my daughter is now too big for him.
He is to STAY at present yard in Buxted.

All those coming to camp at Plumpton Racecourse - please remember to bring the passport for your horse with you on Saturday and have it with you when your horse is presented to the vet for inspection on arrival - it will be checked to make sure the vaccinations are up to date and that it is the correct passport for the horse!- without it your horse will not be allowed access to the stables.

Please wear sensible footwear for the trot up (no flip flops!) and prefably riding hat and gloves.

Hi everyone,   It's that time of year again and we need your help to put out the showjumping for camp 2016!! I know some schools only finish on Friday but could as many of you as possible please come and join us at plumpton racecourse at 3 pm to set up the arenas. I'm really hoping for no rain this year and by the look of this weekend we maybe lucky!   Last year we had a great show of support and it made it very light work, so please come and help even if just for a short while. The 70cm class will run on grass and start at 9.00am.

 

The team event will incorporate an individual competition. 

 

First round:  All teams will jump in drawn order and will be timed in case of later tied results

Second round: All teams on a 0 score will nominate 1 member to represent the team for final team placing. This member must have gone clear in the first round.

The rest of the competitors who jumped clear in the first round will jump a second round to establish individual places.  This will be jumped in the original drawn order.

 

Further details will be sent out nearer the date.

September events at Wivelsden

Hi Everyone    Thank you for all your help so far this year it is very much appreciated.    The next two events are on     11th September - Hunter Trails    25th September - Mini ODE     Please keep these dates free to come and help at the events either on the day or on the set up days. ( We will send out set up dates and times nearer the time )     I will be looking for Fence Judges for both events.    Don't worry if you have never done this before as I will explain all in a briefing and it's very easy just sitting around, eating fantastic sandwiches, drinking tea and of course eating all those lovely homemade cakes that parents provide !!!    Sunday 11th Sept is a hunter trail so could as many of you help all day or between you and your family sit at a fence all day. This does help to keep the course open without long breaks in between classes as we never really know till the day the numbers of riders that will enter.    Sunday 25th Sept is a ODE so nearer the time I will know the XC Times which makes it much easier.    Please email / text or ring me so I can add you to my XC Fence Judge List for the above dates.
