D/D+ rallies

D and D+ standard rallies, including stable management and achievement badges are now being orgainsed by Michelle Beckett - we are very grateful to Michelle for taking on the organising of this.

However, we do need the help of parents on the day of ridden rallies to cover the post of "appointed person". This is to assist the instructor on the day with setting up and the putting away of any equipment used, clearing the arena and parking area's of droppings and in the case of a rider falling, to take care of the rider so the instructor can carry on with the lesson - obviously if the rider was injured the lesson would stop! Any falls need to be recorded in the accident book (provided) and form sent to Candy Robbins for filing.  It would be great if parents would assist with this as Michelle  cannot commit to all dates - her daughter is now grown up and off to jockey school.  Please let me know if you are happy to help please so we can run lots of rallies.

First Aid - if you would be interested in doing an Emergency First Aid at Work course please let me know. This is a 1 day course and costs £40 and is run by Gill McPate our long standing chef at senior camp.  Once I know if there is any interest I can come up with some dates and see which date suits most people.

Future dates coming up

Busy few weeks with something for everyone- camps, picnic rides and Area comps. Congratulations to everyone out enjoying their ponies having fun and improving their knowledge. We all love the pics and good news.

Next up:

Team SJ practice for Branch show in October. All levels

Test training - particularly D plus and C plus.

Winter Area Dressage training about to start- opportunity for all levels to train during these winter months ready for 2023. All levels, 4 teams to Area 2022, was brilliant.

Badge work and socials ongoing.

PLUS - I have provisionally booked a 'racing rally' for this Autumn. I'm just working on the format but there will be opportunity to have a ride up some gallops and learn all about racing. We have several older members who have gone into racing as a career so please let me know on here if interested- all levels - so I can sort dates etc.

PLUS - congrats to our members who did the Blue Cross Care. We would like to offer this in 2023 to all of our members and will coordinate the training alongside test training starting in the New Year. Previous years I've been involved in the judging of this and would be keen to support this competition for all levels.

The badge rallies are especially helpful and great opportunity to learn/catch up with friends.

Any other ideas please let your organisers/Instructors know …..

Sonia Chittenden

Chief Instructor

Rallies at Plumpton this Sunday - CANCELLED

With regret we have made the decision to cancel the rallies due to take place at Plumpton College this Sunday. Temperatures are predicted to be in the mid 30's so this would be a great concern for horse welfare not just from the ridden aspect but also the travelling aspect when the temperature inside a box/trailer is far higher than the outside temperature.  Guidelines recommend that livestock should not travel  if the temperature exceeds 30 degrees, unless the vehicle is fitted with a thermoregulation system.

A full refund will be made to all. Sorry for the disappointment but horse welfare is a priority. Enjoy the warm weather and lots of ice creams instead!

Last day for camp forms to be returned

Just a little reminder that tomorrow, 9th June, is the cut off date for receiving completed camp forms and flu vaccination records.

Hopefully my lovely postman will be very busy tomorrow as without a compete set of forms for each camper, arrangements can not proceed - this has a knock on effect on how many instructors are needed, groups and yards cannot be organised and in the case of senior camp the kitchen/laundry rota, how much hay and bedding is needed and most importantly how much food to order for the campers.

Please, please let me have those completed forms by tomorrow - thankyou
