Report from team jumping at Felbridge on Sunday 14th October

Several members of Southdown Hunt East represented their branch at the Interbranch showjumping competition hosted by Surrey Union at Felbridge showground on Sunday, and with great success!

With 2 rings running it was a busy but calm day with a huge amount of team rapport between our members.

In the 40/45cm Individual class beautiful clear rounds were jumped by our 3 members with Florence Goodwin and Babe winning the class, Lily Musson and Smartie coming 3rd and Millie Stack and Harry coming 5th.

The same trio then took part in the 50-60 team class which also incorporated individuals. All the girls once again jumped clear and won the team class!  In the individual section Florence came 3rd, Lily 5th and Millie 8th, so a great result.

In the 60/70cm Individual class Daisy Burgess riding Eaglehurst Batman, Keira Beasley riding Cookie and Emily Allardyce Bassett riding Heather all jumped clear with Daisy finishing in 2nd place overall.

Daisy, Keira and Emily were then joined by Charlie Collins riding Cookies 'n Cream in the 70cm team and individual class, to finish in 3rd place as a team and Daisy also 7th as an individual.

Meanwhile in the big arena we had 5 members taking part in the Debut Dengie with 49 competitors taking part. Charlie Collins – Jimmy, Ben Burgess – Oats, Arabella Goodwin – Babe, Jess McCaldin Dilly and Messi and George McCalden – Roo and Harry. All produced lovely rounds in a tough class and Arabella and Babe finished in 3rd place and qualified for the 2nd rounds in March.

In the 80cm team we were represented by Rhianna Hawkins – Boolavogue, Ben Bugess – Oats, Arabella Goodwin – Babe and Charlie Collins – Jimmy. Despite 3 of the team jumping clear and therefore finishing on a team score of 0, we were not placed based on the times, but all did incredibly well. These 4 members were joined in the individual section by Frankie Walker – Misty, Amy Newton – Millparks An Dlaiog, Jess McCaldin Dilly and Messi and George McCaldin – Harry. Jess and super speedy Dilly finished in a very creditable 2nd place – this class of 70 starters had some very whizzy ponies – well done Jess.

The 90cm team and Winter League Dengie had 52 starters. Our very smart team, of 4 grey horses, Matthew Perry – The Grey Fellow, Frankie Walker – Misty, Emma Robbins – White Orchid and Amy Newton – Millparks An Dlaiog jumped 4 cracking rounds to finish on a 0 score and bring home 2nd place for the teams. Matthew finished in 8th place as an individual too, and Rhianna Hawkins –Kilmovee also competed as an individual.

Ellie Mileham – Black Beauty II and Matthew Perry then rode in the 1mt class with Ellie jumping a lovely clear to come 2nd. Ellie also jumped in the 1.05 class with just one pole down.

A huge well done to all that took part – you all looked so smart and rode beautifully, a credit to the branch.  Thankyou also to Briosa and Sonia for their training and instructor support on the day. Thankyou also to the parents who give up their time to ferry our members to these events.
