Class 1: Individual and team 75-80cm    14.00 entry fee

Class 2: Dengie Debut  80cm   16.00 entry fee

Those who are selected for teams will automtatically be entered as individuals. If you are not entered as part of a team, you will still compete as an individual

Hi All,

 

This year we thought we would repeat that apparent success of last year by holding another a pre Senior Camp meeting.

 

The purpose of this meeting is that we want to be able to provide the opportunity for our new members and our potential first time campers to get an overview of what Senior camp life and activities are all about.

 

Based on last year's attendance there were a lot of first time campers and we are expecting the same again this year. Realising that for many, this will be the first time away from home without parents we wanted to try and give you an idea of what to expect. Hopefully, the benefit of this meeting will help you make an informed decision as to whether Camp is up your street.

 

Even if you came to Camp last year for the first time and you would like to revisit the routine you are more than welcome.

 

The meeting will be held at Plumpton Racecourse in The Paddock Bar on Tuesday 21st February. 7.15pm for 7.30 start. There will be light refreshments available and maybe a piece of cake or two floating around.  There's a map attached to show where the meeting will be held which might help if you have never visited the racecourse before.

 

It is intended that the evening will take the format of an introduction to the staff and overview of Camp life followed by a short Q & A session.

 

We would very much like an idea of numbers so if you are able to attend could I ask that you drop a line to stuart.fellingham@ntlworld.com confirming you attendance.

I would just like to thank everyone who helped at Ardingly at the weekend. I know some of you got rather wet!  We had a great two days with a lot of our members competing with excellent results.  As Candy has already said   the funds we raise go towards subsidising rallies and camps and also buying new equipment but we cant run our events without your help so please make a note of our future dates and support the branch. Ardingly last weekend

Well it was cold, wet, windy, icy and with remnants of snow but that did not stop SDHE members coming to represent their branch at our 2 day jumping show at Ardingly over the weekend.

Saturday saw the mini mini and mini team and scurry classes with a hotly contested mini/major relay for a bit of fun.

In the mini mini scurry George McCaldin riding Roo finished in 2^nd place, with Arabella Goodwin riding Humbug in 3^rd and Daisy Burgess riding Eaglehurst Batman in 4^th out of just under 40 starters -  well done to you all.

Our mini mini "blue" team came 5^th out of 11 teams (Daisy Burgess – Eaglehurst Batman, Jess McCaldin – Daisy, Emily Allardyce Bassett – Ellie, Lily Musson – Madam) and our "red" team came 6^th (Arabella Goodwin – Humbug, George McCaldin – Roo, Maddie Owen – Daisy, Florence Goodwin – Jack).

There were 15 pairs and a very impressive performance from Jess and George McCaldin won them the class, with Theo and Ethan Collins finishing in 4^th.

The mini scurry had 40 starters and Anna Currie and the gorgeous Parsley went one better than last year and won the class!  Tilly Appleyard and Malones Mate were runners up – well done girls!

The mini "green" team of Ethan Collins riding Matley Tizza, Rhianna Hawkins riding Monty, Charlotte Subedar riding Blarney and Ella Currie riding Prince finished in 6^th place out of 9 teams.  Our "yellow" team were not placed but consisted of: Anna Curry riding Parsley, Jack Pincus riding Panda, Lily Taylor Martin riding Forest Fire and Tilly Appleyard riding Malones Mate.

Sunday….. more ice, lots of rain, freezing cold…… Keep smiling!

The small novice class with an individual incorporated had 13 teams but sadly none of our members were placed. It was a hotly contested class and nobody disgraced themselves, just an unlucky day in testing conditions.

The Debut Dengie (new class for the season) was very popular with around 50 starters. Although our members were out of the ribbons, there were some really good rounds and fast too.

The Novice team and individual had 12 teams with our team finishing in 5^th place. Charlie Pincus riding Ollie was elected jump off for the placings, and headed the team of Jess Fry – Dan, Abigail Johnson – Oscar and Chloe Macdonald – Tricks.

The Winter League Dengie had 40 starters, with 7 members entered but not in the placings.

There was not an Intermediate team but Tallulah Haycock and Dolly finished in 3^rd place as an individual.

The Puissance had 10 starters and after 5 rounds, 3 riders shared 1^st place with Katie Vaughan and Dooncaha Ranger being one of them, clearing the wall at 1/40mt!

 

Despite the disgusting weather the show was a great success for the branch.  Huge thanks go to ALL that helped over the weekend as it is these events that raise funds for our branch and subsidise rallies and the camps, all of which our members enjoy going to.

Help is always much needed, even an hour is fantastic and you do get fed and watered! It is also fun. Please support your branch this year and pop the following dates into your diary so you can both compete and help. Without help, we can't run events and without events we would not be able to keep costs down.

Sunday 14^th May – Hunter Trial at Wiveldsen Farm

Sunday 11^th June – One Day Event at Wivelsden Farm

Sunday 16^th July – Branch Show at Plumpton Racecourse

We already have a very knowledgeable livery owner at our yard and Hannah receives regular lessons (currently on privately owned pony club pony) so we are well supported.

Firstly an enormous 'Well Done' to all those that braved the cold and wet this weekend at our show at Ardingly. Wanted - trailer on loan

This may sound a bit mad but I have been successfully loaning a trailer for the last 2 years as the owner didn't want to sell it but she also knew that she wouldn't be using it for a while and she didn't want it sitting there not being used. So she lent it to me (with a full loan agreement) - I was responsible for its upkeep and servicing and it was mine to use but on the proviso that it would be returned within a day's notice.  The owner bought herself a new horse at the beginning of December so the trailer went back as agreed.

I would love to buy myself a trailer but have very limited funds - does anyone out there have a trailer that they use very little but don't want to sell and would be willing to loan out?  I promise to take the utmost care of it, have it regularly serviced and keep it clean and tidy.  The benefits to you is that your trailer gets regular use (which as we all know is better for trailers than sitting there doing nothing for months on end) and free servicing but remains your property so you can have it back at any time.

Annual Children's Meet

All children and accompanyig adults are welcome.  This meet is aimed at introducing the children to hunting with support from all adults.  A step up from the currently organised mini hunt clubs.

Children to be smartly turned out with hacking jackets and PC ties if possible, with ponies plaited.  Do not worry if you are unable to plait or do not have a hacking jacket.

Cap is £10 for children and £15 for all accompanying riding adults.

Angela Whitehead will be instructing and will be using the indoor arena.

Any help to put the jumps away at the end would be greatly appreciated!

Xmas rally at Plumpton 30th December

We have a Christmas rally at Plumpton College on  30th December.  Please dress up if you want!  If you would like to attend, please can you forward rally form and cheque by Wednesday of next week, 21st December, to secure a place.   For E and D test members the form needs to go to Melanie Cammies and for D+ upwards the form needs to go to Jane Walsh. All details on the website. Team saddlecloths

Due to saddlecloths for team events being handed out at competitions and not returned, we are now inviting those who would like to represent our branch as part of a team and interbranch events to purchase their own saddlecloth for use, and to be reponsible for!  These will cost £26.00 to include embroidery.  Please could you let me know by this Sunday, 18th December if you would like me to order one for you and I am more than happy to order them, collect and take to be embroidered and collect from there at no cost to you.  If I can have names by Sunday the order should be done in time for use at our January show.

Hi To All The C Test Members and Parents.

 

Thank you to everyone who joined Sarah and myself at the C Test Rallies this year. I hope you have enjoyed them and well done to the members who passed their C Test in October Half Term.

 

I will not be doing the C Test Rallies in 2017 as for my sins I agreed to take over the organsing of the Eventers Rallies so I hope to see lots of you at them.

 

I have not yet finialised the dates and veunes for the Eventer rallies  but I will do so over the Christmas Holidays and get them out to you all ASAP. Please remember like the C Test Rallies I ran this year members do not have to compete or ever be on a Team. The Rallies will be Open To Everyone to enjoy and have a go at dressage, showjumping and Cross Country with Instruction with heights from Dinky up to Level 5 ( Which is massive and I am not watching any of you go round that !! ).

 

Please try and attend Jo Reffins Flatwork Rallies and Emily and Candys Showjump Rallies as much as possible to get you ready for the Eventing Season. I will for course run some dressage, SJ and XC rallies but the more practice you all get the better.

 

I will also scan the Pony Club websites so any of you who fancy having a go at an event can. THERE IS ONE RULE if we go to any EVENTS someone must make EGG SANDWHICHES !!

 

Thanks again for making 2016 Rallies alot of fun.

Spaces available. Flatwork rally 7th Jan

There are lots of spaces still available on the Flatwork rally on Saturday January 7th.

 

Time: 9am - 11am

Venue: Chelwood Equestrian

Instructor: Polly Thom

Cost: £12.50

 

This rally would be excellent preparation for the SDEPC dressage competition at Plumpton on January 29th. The schedule is not out yet but will include something for all levels of ability.

C test / C+ rally this Sunday

I still have spaces at Plumpton College if anyone would like to join us.

As before the lesson at 9.30am is for Anyone working towards their C Test.

The lesson at 10.30am is C Test and as I have my Daughter with me, we would love to have anyone working towards their C+ Test. Sarah is more than happy to accommodate both.

Our branch 2 day team jumping show 14th & 15th January 2017

Our branch are hosting their 2 day show jumping event on Saturday 14^th and Sunday 15^th January 2017 at Ardingly showground.

The full schedule is available on our website under "schedules".  Please read carefully and make sure you put your name forward for the correct class/height.  No horse may compete in more than one team.

The mini mini and mini classes + pairs relay are on the Saturday and small novice, novice, intermediate, dengie and puissance on the Sunday.

If you would like to be considered for a place in a team please send names  for the Saturday classes to Emily Pincus and names for the Sunday classes to Candy Robbins so they can co-ordinate the branch entries and payments and avoid having lots of individual requests. We would like to have your names by 12^th December at the latest to get this all sorted before the Christmas break and to give you time to send in your payment to secure the places.

Health & safety officer needed for our branch

Dear All  We have a vacancy on the committee for a Health and Safety officer. This involves updating risk assessments every year on existing venues and carrying out new risk assessments on any new venues.   It is a requirement of headquarters that all venues used by the pony club have to be risk assessed.  Committee meetings are generally held every six weeks.  I know everyone is busy but if you are interested in this role, please get in touch with me.    It is becoming increasingly difficult to find dedicated people to join us in running the branch and it means more and more work is being put upon existing committee members.
