Pony Club Road Rider Achievement Badge (D+/C Test) + Mini Road Rider

Helen Burgess-Dinleyici has very kindly agreed to co-ordinate the training that is required for the award of the Road Rider Achievement Badge.  The relationship between the various Road Rider and Efficiency tests is explained here: http://www.pcuk.org/uploads/training/THE_PONY_CLUB_TRAINING_SYSTEM_Dec_2012.pdf)

If your child needs to complete this badge please contact Helen so she can compile a list and arrange sessions.  It is possible the test will be on 28th May at South Brockwells Farm.

We have space for 8 children each day. The sessions will last from 10 am until 2.30/3 pm. All participants will also have to watch a DVD and read the accompanying book before they attend. (These will be supplied by Pony Club). Cost £25 including the badge.

The sessions will start with a thorough tack check. Any loose stitching will need mending before riding starts so please can you check your tack, particularly stirrup leathers before the day. The children will do a bit of theory and they will need a pen and paper. They will then walk and ride the course which will be laid out. After lunch a theory and practical test will be completed.

Ponies do not need to be plaited but must be smartly turned out. All children should be in usual pony club attire (sweatshirts, cream jodhpurs, hair nets etc). If you have them please bring pale gloves and any fluorescent items for the child and pony. Please do not buy anything you will not use again just let me know and I am sure we can borrow what is needed. Children will need a packed lunch, drinks, wet weather gear (hopefully not) or suncream. Ponies will also need to have all they require for the day. They will be tied to a trailer or lorry for reasonable periods of the session.

Helen then plans to hold a two hours session from 3pm to 5pm (tbc) for any members wishing to undergo training and assessment for the Mini Road Rider award.

Please can you let Helen know ASAP if you are interested in either award and if we have sufficient numbers the day will go ahead.  helenkaya@harpercraven.com
