SDHE Team Jumping Competition 9th and 10th February

SDHE Team Jumping Competition 9th and 10th February.

Hello everyone and welcome to the New Pony Club Year.  On 9th and 10th February we are holding our Team Jumping Competition at Crockstead.  It's a 2 day event and as you can imagine we need plenty of helpers in order to make the event run smoothly and promote our Branch within the equine community.

I'm organising volunteers for this event and would love to hear from you if you feel you can help ken any way, even for a few hours.

The help we need is listed below,

Car park stewards: The parking at Crockstead is over 2 car areas and we need people who can monitor how full areas are getting and liaise to ensure areas are opened and closed and direct vehicles to the correct areas. ( a job for the Dads maybe?). Needed from approx 8am each day, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO ALL DAY.

Tack checking Stewards: You need to know your way around a pony and tack for this job.  Making sure that the pony and rider have the correct equipment and it's all in good repair. We'll give you guidelines as to what you need to check and look out for.

Collecting /warm up ring Stewards:  We need to make sure that the warm up ring doesn't get over crowded and that riders behave theirselves in there.  You also need to make sure that the riders are all ready to go so you'll liaise with the Door Steward and make sure you send them down to the Jumping ring in good time for their class. A loud, clear voice is handy for this role.

Arena Party: you'll be strong and quick and work with John to help him set up the jumps before the start of each class.  You'll then hang out in the arena watching for poles being knocked down and making sure they're out back up for the next competitor. A job for our older members and friends?

Runners: although we have radios, we're always having to contact people with messages around the event.  We need some runners to pass on these messages.

We also need some one to help take hot drinks and food ( and hot water bottles!?) to our helpers during the day.  You just have to be able to remember a message. ( might be a good one for someone trying to reach their 20,000 steps a day!)

All helpers will be very much appreciated. We'll make sure you're fed and watered and it's a good opportunity to meet other parents from the branch and get to know how it all works.  As the event is over 2 days I'm hoping there may be a time when you're child isn't competing that you can help.
