SDHE Team Jumping Competition 9th and 10th February

SDHE Team Jumping Competition 9th and 10th February.

Hello everyone and welcome to the New Pony Club Year.  On 9th and 10th February we are holding our Team Jumping Competition at Crockstead.  It's a 2 day event and as you can imagine we need plenty of helpers in order to make the event run smoothly and promote our Branch within the equine community.

I'm organising volunteers for this event and would love to hear from you if you feel you can help ken any way, even for a few hours.

The help we need is listed below,

Car park stewards: The parking at Crockstead is over 2 car areas and we need people who can monitor how full areas are getting and liaise to ensure areas are opened and closed and direct vehicles to the correct areas. ( a job for the Dads maybe?). Needed from approx 8am each day, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO ALL DAY.

Tack checking Stewards: You need to know your way around a pony and tack for this job.  Making sure that the pony and rider have the correct equipment and it's all in good repair. We'll give you guidelines as to what you need to check and look out for.

Collecting /warm up ring Stewards:  We need to make sure that the warm up ring doesn't get over crowded and that riders behave theirselves in there.  You also need to make sure that the riders are all ready to go so you'll liaise with the Door Steward and make sure you send them down to the Jumping ring in good time for their class. A loud, clear voice is handy for this role.

Arena Party: you'll be strong and quick and work with John to help him set up the jumps before the start of each class.  You'll then hang out in the arena watching for poles being knocked down and making sure they're out back up for the next competitor. A job for our older members and friends?

Runners: although we have radios, we're always having to contact people with messages around the event.  We need some runners to pass on these messages.

We also need some one to help take hot drinks and food ( and hot water bottles!?) to our helpers during the day.  You just have to be able to remember a message. ( might be a good one for someone trying to reach their 20,000 steps a day!)

All helpers will be very much appreciated. We'll make sure you're fed and watered and it's a good opportunity to meet other parents from the branch and get to know how it all works.  As the event is over 2 days I'm hoping there may be a time when you're child isn't competing that you can help.

Please contact me, Sally Harper on sallyannharper@me.com . Or text 07753777072

Eventing 2019 - replies to Rebekah Walker

SDHEPC Eventing 2019

The season is not far away, though I am sure we have loads of wet weather to get through first. Our first Eventing rally is February 24th at Alderlake Farm, this will be grids and times will be in the afternoon. Send over a rally form and copy of your BACS to book. Cost £12.50.

My aim this year is to get teams entered into the Area competition at Brightening Park July 7th  across all heights. To ensure your selection for a team please can I remind you that you MUST have attended 3 Eventing working rallies this year,1 of these MUST have been XC schooling. Polly and Briosa will not be able to select any SDHEPC members who they have not seen go XC safely. Also renew your Membership on time! as I found out last year, late membership = no team representation (this is from HQ) Also I would love to see some of our Minis out at 60cm and 70cm, I will run an Intro to Eventing rally in April for this group.

As soon as the ground dries up, I will organise rallies at Comphurst for the Seniors and South Brockwells for the Minis to start with.  Also there will be some combined Dressage and SJ rallies with the aim of getting some great tests and clear rounds! In conjunction with the C/C+/B rallies we will look at Studding and Fitness. For any of you aiming for Team Selection, please bear in mind Brightling will be a fully up to height track over some lovely parkland so your ponies will need to be properly fit!

If you are planning on Eventing this season let me know as I can then gauge interest in organising other rallies i.e. we may do one on walking courses, learning alternatives etc and send out other ODE dates

Dressage rallies - from Bryony

Thank you to everyone who attended the Dressage rally on Sunday. Lynsey was really impressed that everyone tried so hard and she really hopes that you all had fun but also learnt something new to take away with you.

Please send in your rally form if you wish to attend January's dressage Rally, note that places are limited as these rallies are extremely popular although there is the possibility to put on an extra session if the bookings warrant it. Because of this and also because we had a couple of no-shows today please be aware that unless payment is received beforehand you will not get a confirmed place on the Rally

Happy New Year

Sadly it's time for Inca to find a new home. Most of you know Inca fast busy mare.  14.1 12 years old bare foot . Up to date with teeth jabs worming . Is clipped.   Inca is a show jumper it's her thing . Great in jump off. . Xc  she loves .  We do dressage with her but her canter is to fast  but she gives it a good try.  Inca is great hacking on own and in company. And is safe in open field  but if you ask her she will go and Jess has amazing fun . . If I could keep  her  I would  but Jess is going in to horses now and it's hard to find time to ride 2. . Inca has come home with lots of ribbons. Inca hates being on her own  in field she likes company.  Great to travel and load. . We 've  had Inca 3 and a half years Jess was 12  Inca needs a rider that's understands mares soft hands.  Confident  that wants lots of fun . Can come with tack and rugs . The right home is more important than price.   Please contact Sarah on sjdale6@googlemail.com

Stunning competition horse for share/loan

I am ideally looking for a sharer for my gorgeous horse Pepa – but would consider a loan to the right home.

She is a fun and forward doing ride, but can be a bit spooky/sharp so no novices please.

I event Pepa up to BE100 and we have had numerous placings and wins. She loves her job and is incredibly consistent, careful, scopey and brave. I have also taken her hunting and she was amazing, but strong!

She has had some time off with injuries and back problems, but this is now being managed and she is back in work and has just started jumping again.

She is easy to do in every way - probably the easiest horse I've ever had. She is also very affectionate and everyone on the yard loves her!

I really don't want to give her up so am hoping I can find a share, but due to my current circumstances I will consider a loan to the right home.

She is kept on a lovely yard with amazing hacking on the South Downs just outside Kingston - no road work at all. There is also a school.
