Timings

Despite the staggered start to classes, competitors should be aware that it is approximately 20 minutes to get from the stablefield to Ring 4 (90cm) and ALL competitors will need to pass through Tack check on leaving the stablefield which can get very busy.  Please allow plenty of time - teams must jump in drawn order.

Venue!

We ask that all competitors treat the venue with due respect.  In particular, if anyone is found in the International Arena (mounted or unmounted) the whole branch may be asked to leave immediately.

Hat Tagging:  I will bring tags on the day if your hat needs to be done

Jewellery:  Jewellery is no longer allowed even if covered up with tape!

Passports:  Please bring your horses passport in case there is a spot check

Parking for boxes and trailers is via Hickstead Village turnoff from the A23 and follow the signs into the stable field. Cars, unless towing a trailer will not be allowed to enter the stable field and must park on the main showground and enter via the separate main showground entrance.

Tack check opens from 7.15 and is usually at the bottom of the stable field on route to the arena's – please have passports and spurs cards at this point for checking – they are strict!

Competitors must be ready to jump when requested – if not present after one minute, they will be eliminated. Competitors must enter and leave the ring as directed by the stewards. Any breach of these instructions will result in elimination.  Each pony club will jump as a team.

First round: All teams to jump in drawn order (will be timed in case of later tied results)

Second round: All teams on a score of 0 will nominate 1 member to represent the team for final team placing. This member must have gone clear in the first round. Nominations to be filled in by the Chef d'equipe  (Candy) and handed to the judges before the second round starts.

The rest of the competitors who jumped clear in the first round will jump in the second round to establish individual placings and will jump in original drawn order, and against the clock.

70cm teams – grass arena

Class starts 9.00.   Course walk at 8.15 with Angela (meet at the ringside)   38 teams in class

Red Team of Katie Vaughan, Tallulah Haycock, Anna Currie, Charlotte Subedar have been drawn 14th so would estimate a jumping time around 10.05.

Blue team  of Rebecca Harvey, Amy Newton, Ben Burgess, Lily Taylor-Martin have been drawn 32nd, so could do the second course walk at around 11.00 as estimate your jumping time to be around 11.45 but you are able to walk at 8.15 if you want to get the walk out of the way!

80cm Team -  Cerys Kelly, Charlie Pincus, Millie Robin, Abigail Johnson      (31 teams in class)

Class starts after completion of the open class in the Polo Arena and not before 12.00.

You lucky people can have a lie in but please be there by 11.00 in case things are hurried through.

You are the 16th team to jump so if the class does start at 12.00 you should jump around 1.15

Sarah Muggeridge will be there to walk the course with you – meet by the polo arena

90cm Teams: Class starts 8.00   Course walk at 7.15 with Sarah Muggeridge – meet by the new all weather arena as this is where you will be jumping.  (44 teams in class)

"A" Team: Chloe Macdonald, Maddie Aloof, Emma Robbins, Jasmine Pearce – you are drawn 20th team to go and estimate a jumping time of 9.35

"B" Team: Chloe Fry, Rhiannon Vesey-Holt, Florence Hills, Jason Watson – you are drawn 34th team to go so could do the 2nd course walk at around 10.00 – would estimate a jumping time of 11.00

1mt Team:  Class starts 8.00    Course walk 7.30 with Sarah Muggeridge – meet by Polo Arena

Jessica Copsey, Sophie Duffield, Kezzie Fish    (27 teams in class)

You are drawn 18th team to jump – estimate jumping time of 9.25

I will be there at 7.00 and will collect all numbers at the team managers briefing to pass on to you all from around 7.45.

Clear round jumping is available at £8.00 per round.  70cm clear round in ring 3 (grass) and a 90cm in the international warm up arena (all weather).

Hope this essay covers most points.  Please ensure you and your horse are spotless and all horses must be plaited – SDHE prides itself on the turnout of its'  members.  If you have a SDHE saddlecloth, please wear it – I do have some but probably not enough for all 6 teams. If possible please can you use plain navy saddlecloths so we stand some chance of matching!

Any problems with lameness, fitness etc., please let myself or Emily Pincus for the 70cm teams know asap so we can organise reserves.

Most importantly have a great day out – whatever happens keep smiling, there is always another day and competing is supposed to be a pleasure, not a punishment. Thanking the organisers of the event always goes down well too!

Happy jumping – see you Saturday bright and early!
