Dear Mike
Do hope you're well.
Jo Tindall from the Eridge who has had Percy for the last two years for her Great Niece has asked me to sell Percy and to offer him exclusively in the first instance back to the Southdown East Pony Club. He came back to me this weekend, is extremely well and showing no sign of his 20 years. Ceski came over to put him through his paces and I can assure you he has lost none of his talent both on the flat and over jumps. I've mentioned his return to John Bedford and to polly Hingston but could you put the following up in your next newsletter or sooner. I feel really grateful to Jo Tindall that she'd like me to offer him in the first instance to Southdown East members!!!
14.2hh, chestnut gelding.
A complete schoolmaster who competed extensively at PC novice level both with Ceski Goddard and then with Alexandra and Annabelle Irwin, all Southdown East members. He has been to the Novice PC Championships in all three disciplines, SJ, Eventing and Dressage include winning the dressage championship. He also loves hunting and hacks alone or in company.
He has spent the last two years with the DC of the Eridge Pony Club giving confidence to a girl who has sadly now outgrown him so he is now back with me to find a new home, hopefully within the Southdown East Pony Club. Percy is a delight to handle in all respects: genuine and well mannered on the ground, 100% to clip, shoe and load.
Ceski Goddard started on Sir Percy at the age of 9, so I am looking for a similarly young rider who would like to do regular PC activities at mini level and then in due course up to small novice and possibly to novice. He may be 19 this year but he has years left in him and has come back to me looking and feeling a million dollars.
The right home and the right rider is essential rather than the price for this hugely loved pony. So, if you are interested please get in touch with me. There is one proviso on the sale – he comes back to me for re-sale or retirement.
For further information, please contact Louise Lewis (Weir) on 07739182301 or email louise@lovereading.co.uk
Mike, I've not put the price because to the right home and the right rider, Jo is happy to let him go for very little but I don't want to say that until I've spoken with potential families. Any queries then do give me a shout.
Louise

Dear mike
please could you circulate the following ad. Thank you.
Michelle pearce
Eye-catching 12.1hh liver chestnut welsh gelding with good conformation, movement and markings.
Toffee is a very friendly little chap with a kind nature and a readiness to learn.
He is easy to do in all ways, a good doer, who can live in or out, is happy barefoot, loves being groomed, easy to catch, load etc
He is fantastic on the lead-rein, still a little green off it but willing and quick to learn -the type to lend himself to a variety of disciplines including pony club, showing, hunting, family pony etc
Toffee picked up lots of ribbons at his first show earlier this summer and wasn't phased by the journey there or the show itself.
Toffee is now ready to have fun with a new jockey.
5 years old. Hasn't put a foot wrong.
£1200.

Following the huge rainfall on Monday and Tuesday morning (near enough 40mm) and with more rain in the forecast overnight the fields at Wivelsden are too wet to allow us to proceed with the all day rally on Friday. The rain has now soaked in and we need to allow the fields to recover from Monday's Hunter Trial.
Obviously we will refund fees to those who have paid ASAP.
Thanks for your understanding and patience.
Mike

Class 3a/3b - 8/9 judges
Class 4a/4b - 7/8 judges
Please come forward to help us run this event.

Yes you can sit in your car so you won't get wet and what else do you propose doing on a wet August Bank Holiday Monday?
Joking apart we are well short on judges for Monday and, for safety reasons alone, we can't run without. Fence judges must be 18 years old (but younger people can help), no previous experience is required and a briefing will be provided along with tea, cake and sandwiches!
Please update the online sheet http://tinyurl.com/q8nq76a (if possible) or email Claire Fry - clairemfry@hotmail.co.uk . For those who have alreday emailed Claire she will be updating the sheet later today.
Hopefully see you on the day.
Mike
Sorry everyone, muddled up names - Abi's horse for sale / loan is Iris.

I know a number of members, parents and friends and family will have witnessed an accident that took place just as prize giving was ending at Town Place. We believe Robert, the younger brother of Abbey Sandys who was attending Junior Camp, climbed up on a very large tractor tyre propped up against one of the units in the yard. Unfortunately it overbalanced and landed on top of him. Thankfully it was lifted clear within seconds and after a night in hospital under observation he has been sent home suffering only from minor abrasions and bruising. We are all very grateful for the quick thinking and prompt action of those that went to his aid.

As some of you already know, branch member Lara Curtis was involved in a serious non-riding accident last week and is in hospital. Her father has asked for the message below to be passed to all who know her.
Many of you will also know Liza Curtis, Lara's mother, who is our Branch Treasurer and Membership Secretary. I will cover her role in the Branch pro tem.
Mike
"Last Friday, Lara had a serious accident in which her neck was broken and she was told that she would be paralysed from the neck down. Lara was transferred to London and immediately operated on at a specialist neuro-surgical unit. Her operation went as well as everyone could have hoped and the prayers of family and friends were answered - Lara began to move her arms on request as soon as she awoke in the intensive-care unit. Lara has suffered no brain damage and is very much still herself, but she now faces many months of rehabilitation. She currently has no sensation from her shoulders down, but she has already delighted specialists with her progress and it is far too early to know how much of a recovery she will be able to make. Everyone who knows Lara will know how tough and determined she will be in taking charge of her own recovery.
The coming weeks and months will be very difficult for Lara, her sister Annabel and her friends and family. Lara cannot at this stage receive visitors, gifts or messages. For messages of support for Lara which her family will share with her, please use the email account laracurtis2014@gmail.com. Messages may not be replied to, but they will help Lara as she continues her rehabilitation.
We appreciate you will also want to support Lara and her family, but could we ask that you allow them the space they will need. As and when there is news to share, we will let everyone know and in the meantime, please do not bombard us with questions and please refrain from social media exchanges about Lara's condition.
Our prayers are now for Lara's fullest possible recovery."
Hi All,
Hope you have an opportunity to recover a little...Well I have anyway. So, now I can move on to things like lost property.
As you can probably imagine there was a small mountain of items left behind........Thankfully no children or horses!!
Due to the amount of the items left behind I was unable to bring it all home myself so others have kindly agreed to take some for me.
To be honest I wasn't about to bring home single smelly socks or screwed up underwear so they have gone. However, the larger items I will do my best to list for you. Some are named some were not.
I have also disposed of any broken muck skips left behind along with filthy tail bandages and worn out brushes.
Items such as yard tools are being stored, so contact me and I will try and reunite them with you.
Tanisha Bolton - Please could you contact Candy Robbins as I know she has some items of yours.
Edward Were – Please Contact Candy Robbins as I believe she has an item of your items.
Jemima Simpson – Please contact Candy also.
Lauren Bonwick-Adams – Please contact Candy.
The following items are also requiring homes.......
x1 Skateboard
x1 Southdown Hunt East Jacket (new style) Left in the restaurant on Saturday, size XS
x1 Green Yard shirt, size small
x1 Pony Club sweatshirt, size small, initials JS on the tag
x1 Pair of Jods with the initials FF or FS (very feint)
x1 Protack Leather Daisy Rein. Pony size, black
x1 Waterproof Jacket, "Mac in a Sac" Size 11-13 year.
If any of these items are yours please contact me or where indicated contact Candy. I will make arrangements for the items to be labelled and then they will be place in the Secretary's Box (Blue Systematic wagon) for collection at the Turton Hunter Trials, 25th August 2014.
Thanks to you all, any questions please email me on stuart.fellingham@ntlworld.com.
Regards
Stuart
The following is from Lesley Briggs (parent in the branch).
When I was at Hickstead for the Derby Meeting I went into the Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust stand. They are always after bits and other pieces of tack to send to the Gambia, particularly pony sized equipment. They are going to have a stand at Hickstead this week and I'm going to drop off my unwanted pony headcollars and bits including some old nickel ones which aren't used much now in this country but they are keen to have.
I just wondered whether anyone else had old pony bits no longer needed. It just seems a great opportunity to have a clear out and help the ponies and donkeys in the Gambia. Their website for more information is http://www.gambiahorseanddonkey.org.uk/ and I see that you can drop off at NFU offices - nearest branch is Ardingly.

Hi Mike. We are pony club members and I wondered if you would mind sending out a wanted ad for us? We are looking for a 12.2-13.2 pony preferably for loan but could buy for my 10 yr old daughter. Age of pony not a concern. Would like something that loves attention on the ground has done some pony club, rallies etc, likes to jump small stuff and is trustworthy! A very good loving home awaits.
Many thanks
